Ohana vs. Texas de Brazil

I'm considering each of these for my 40th birthday in December. It will be me, my husband, and our two children, ages 5 & 7. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has been to both restaurants would share with me which restaurant they preferred and why.

I've only had O'hana for breakfast, so can't really comment on dinner- we did LOVE breakfast and are going back this trip.

But Texas de Brazil- SOOOOO YUMMY. I am actually debating this one for DH and I's 10th anniversary dinner.

I think your children will enjoy O'hana more. If you or DH are meat lovers, you'd probably enjoy Texas more (better and more varied meats). But I don't think you'll be disappointed with O'hana.

We've been to each one once. We didnt love the bar at Brazil, and the meat was overcooked, in our opinion. We did love Ohana, their sides are awesome, plus the meats were just right.

Another vote for O'Hana! I think the atmosphere is more fun and lively. I like the sides at O'Hanas a lot more. Also, at Texas de Brazil, they would give like one or two little pieces of meat and then we'd have to wait until they finally came back around for more. TDB was also more expensive.

Jumping in - where is TDB? Used to live in BR and haven't had Churrasco since '99.

One in Orlando and about 25 across the US.

I just looked and there seems to be more than there were a few years ago when I looked to find one near us for DH's birthday.

In term of atmosphere (for adults) and food/meats I would say that Texas De Brazil wins HANDS DOWN. The meat is SO much better there, plus the salad bar there is AMAZING. Also, quality of food is much more impressive at TDB than 'Ohana.

Your kids might prefer the atmosphere at 'Ohana, and the dessert at 'Ohana is my favorite that I have ever had in my whole life.

The past six or seven trip my husband and I have gone to Texas De Brazil instead of 'Ohana. We really prefer it.

Isn't Texas De Brazil up near Universal? Kinda far just to go for dinner unless its a night you're visiting Universal. Or is there one near WDW?

I let some friends talk me into having my birthday dinner at the Orlando Texas de Brazil last January. I wasn't that impressed. The salad bar and sides were quite good but I didn't really enjoy any of the meats. People rant and rave about how terrible Disney food is, but for $15 less per person I think 'Ohana is more enjoyable and even tastier.

I've been to both, and recently so. I actually like O'hana better. Yes, TDB has WAY more variety, a HUGE salad bar, and a more upscale atmosphere. I just feel that the "quantity doesn't always mean quality" applies here. There's nothing that I crave at TDB. In contrast, there's little I don't crave at O'hana.

I can't speak to TDB because I've never even heard of it before, but from what I gather from the previous replies, it's a Brazilian Steakhouse, I'm guessing similar to the Fogo De Chao chain?

I really enjoy Ohana. It's a great family atmosphere, the food is excellent and oh so plentiful! There are many activities to keep the kids entertained. Also, afterwards, you can go down to the beach and watch Wishes from there, if you time your ADR correctly.

I've been to Ohana twice: Once as a teen/kid with my parents. I LOVED the pineapple and caramel dessert (which they don't have anymore, but I still remember it 15 years later, so that's sayin' something!). I also went when we took DD (6 at the time) for her first trip in 2010. We pushed back the ADR to 9:30 so we could see Spectramagic. By the time we got to dinner, out hunger had passed, so we all pretty much picked at our food. DD had a delightful time participating in the live entertainment (Hawaiian woman with a ukelele - totally entertained all the kids!), and the little food we did eat was delicious. We felt guilty wasting all the food!

I think it would be a lovely celebration of your DH's 40th. jmo. I'm sure the other would be great as well, but Ohana seems like it would give it a more "family" atmosphere.

Thanks, everybody. I was really leaning toward Texas de Brazil, but now I'm not sure. We're planning to go to MK that day, so O'Hana would be most convenient. Since the reviews are split pretty evenly, it may come down to the convenience factor for me. It sounds like either one would be a good choice.

Went to TdB in June '10 and was not impressed. Thought it was okay, no one in the party (2 adults and 9 yr old) was enthusiastic about it. 'Ohana, on the other hand, is one of our favorite Disney meals. Nephew (the 9 yr old) requests it every trip. No plans to return to TdB; if we go that far out, we go to Sweet Tomatoes!

I really like Texas de Brazil, though I've only eaten there three times, I think. I find it a more enjoyable dining experience than 'Ohana, which I find to be a bit frantic for my tastes.

However, Universal has recently opened their own churrascaria at CityWalk, and I'm planning on dining there during my visit in February. It's about the same price as TdB, and I have read nothing but good things about it.

If you join the Texas De Brazil club for free, they will send you a coupon for a free dinner on your birthday. Also, kids under seven eat free. I have been to both restaurants and the food at Texas is much better, bacon wrapped filet says it all.

Why not eat at both? I don't know how long you are going to Disney for but if you are going to be at Disney for a while you could do one at the beginning of the trip and one at the end of your trip. We are considering doing this during our trip next month.

I just wanted to add, we have eaten at 'Ohana many times but never at TDB.
