DH and I are going to WDW in december. Our ADRs are all set but I'm not sure if I should cancel my Ohana reservation and get one for Kona instead.

We've never eaten at either place. We have no kids so the fun-activities at Ohana arent really a perk for us. I'm not opposed to going to choosing good atmosphere over good food though if the atmosphere is good enough.

So which should we choose? In terms of food and atmosphere, which place is better?

We were faced with a similar decision for our upcoming trip. Ultimately, we chose Kona. To me, the menu looks great and the lack of "entertainment" is actually a plus because I hope that the folks with kids will be over at Ohana. Maggie

Being a childless couple that's gone to both places I'd pick Kona. I just plan liked the food better and I enjoyed the fact that it was quieter than Ohana. You'll enjoy it either way though.

Even as someone with children, I would choose Kona. That being said, we are going to 'Ohana at my DD13's request in September--she remembers it from 6 yrs ago and wants to go again. :rolleyes1

Ohana can be extremely loud. Just imagine all those kids running around on a wooden floor! Even without that little tidbit of info, I'd choose Kona hands down. Amazing food!

Kona, without a doubt, especially since you don't have any kids. The food is better at Kona. The atmosphere is more relaxed at Kona (no crazy kid activities going on all around you while you eat like at Ohana).

My 2 visits to Ohana's over the past year can be rated...fair and horrible. My DH swears never to return. We loved Kona breakfast so we are going to try the Kona dinner. I have heard good things so my fingers are crossed.

OT
I love the pic in your siggy zurgswife!
That guy was awesome at Whispering Canynon
I havent seen him there in over a year though
let me guess hes moved on?

We've never had a bad meal at Kona.

I didn't know that there have been changes made to the menu at O'hana. I'll have to look into that because it has been three years since we've been there and we have ADRs for next month.

Thanks guys! I booked Ohana based on the reviews mostly then when I looked at the Kona menu, I thought that might be more fitting for us.

I called Disney and changed the ADRs this afternoon. Thanks for all your feedback!

Awesome, you won't regret it! My husband and I have been going to Kona for dinner every year for several years now. We love it!

Hmmm...I have ADR's for Ohana but now I'm wavering....most of you say that Kona is better especially if you have no kids but in your opinion, what about if you have kids? I was thinking my boys might like Ohana because of the stuff going on but they are 9 1/2 & 11...are they too old to really get involved with the Ohana entertainment? Any thoughts? We've never actually been to either so both would be new to us.

I used to be a big fan of both. However, our last trip in March we were very disgusted with both the food and service at Kona. The year before we were turned off for good from O'Hana. For atmosphere I would pick O'Hana, especially for the breakfast, for food Kona. But with that said I have sworn them both off. Just my opinion, but we used to love both. Kids have an ball at O'Hana, when my kids were small they were bored to tears at Kona. My kids are now 16 and 19, so the character breakfasts are no longer a plus. If you go for the breakfast, I think you will enjoy O'Hana.

Kona is awesome for food. Ohana's food is ok, but good for entertainment. Especially if you can get a seating time around Wishes. Although I was there last month with some friends and the sound system wasn't working properly, so we had to "fill in" for a bit until Jiminy Cricket kicked in. :rotfl:

We had poor service and poor food quality at Kona this past Thanksgiving. We went to O'hana's in January and acually had a decent experience. We're going back to O'hana's this Thanksgiving for both dinner and breakfast. Like they say.....gotta roll the dice.

Kona hands down. We will be having breakfast there on Monday! Our two DS (12 and 5) pick Kona's over Ohana's and other character breakfasts as well. We asked them where they wanted to eat breakfast this time and it was their decision to eat here. We also love having dinner there too. The food is great and we have never had a bad experience.

My family enjoyed ohana even though our server was dry i did not let him ruin the experience for us. the food was great. next year i plan on trying kona for breakfast to try the famous tonga toast

Oh...you can see Wishes from Ohana?

Oh...you can see Wishes from Ohana?

From what the CM told me when I originally booked my ADR for Ohana, you can see bits and pieces of Wishes. She said the better view is out by the water though.

So we're going to do Kona around 6 and then go out towards the water afterwards to watch Wishes.
