We have a group of 7 going for dinner at OHana. my inlaws have indicated they might just show up an join us :confused3. I've been trying to change the reservation to 9 people, but so far no luck.

Does a group of seven get an 8 seat table ? if so, I would think that 9 should be possible, especially since 3 of the diners are small kids.

If I cant add the seats to the reservation, should we just show up as a group of 9, or will it be impossible to accommodate?

I'm going to keep trying every day, but if they cant find the extra 2 seats, I think we will have to cancel on they day, should the inlaws show up.

We were a party of 9 last year and got seated at nice round table right next to the fire pit...it was great. Just politely ask the host/hostess if they can seat you at a bigger table. You will probably have a long wait though...we did.

When you check in at the podium let the CM know that you may have 2 extra people. They will definately be able to find a spot for 9.

I agree with this post. The Cast Member at the podium will definitely accommodate your larger party. Worst case scenario, you'll have to wait a little longer for a table. Considering how long you have to wait at 'Ohana under normal circumstances, you probably won't notice the difference.

Have fun!

I agree that Disney is very accomodating. That being said, it never hurts to try to seat a larger party, but it's never ever guaranteed. If it's possible for them to seat you, they will. It's not really a matter of not having enough room at the table (which you're right, will probably be for 8). Disney is very strict about occupancy limits, and 'Ohana (unless you have a very early, or very late reservation) is usually booked solid. (For the record, even infants count towards occupancy. I've seen people turned away from their ADR's because they didn't put their "under 2's" on the ADR) So, you can absolutely try it if you can't get a new ADR for 9...but don't be surprised if you're turned away. 'Ohana isn't one of the restaurants I would take my chances at.

it's not table sizes you have to worry about, but fire codes. If they're at capacity for fire codes they won't let your extra people in whether or not you could fit them at your table. I also cannot agree that they will "definitely" find you a spot for 9. There are reports of groups who arrive with extra people being told they can seat only the original party number.

Try to see if you can book an extra reservation for 2 for your in-laws (and put it under their name, not the name on the original reservation) at around the same time, then when you check in say that you would like to be seated together or near each other if possible. This being 'Ohana you may not have much luck finding an extra reservation for 2 either.

Unfortunately, this is not so. If the resort is fully booked, as it often is, there will simply be no room for extra guests. Especially as the OP will now need an even larger table set up.

The best thing to do is to keep trying to change your ADR to 9 people. Check as often as you can! If nothing opens up, then go to your ADR early and ask if they can seat your extra guests. They may say "Yes" but it is not a given. But you do need to have a back up plan in case your inlaws cannot be accomodated.

This is simply untrue, especially at 'OHana. Certainly they will try, but in no way is it a guarantee.
I would have a backup plan so when you are turned away, you have somewhere to go for dinner.
Good Luck

We probably had the same table as you - and we were only a party of 5 (including 2 kids). You certainly could get 10 at those tables. So, if you were going to end up at one of those tables, they can probably accomodate you. But obviously, there are no guarantees.
