Ohana Question

I was nervous about Ohana and almost switched so glad I didn't because it was one of our favs! It was the only restaurant they wanted to do again this trip.

I learned on our last trip that you need to try it yourself! Lecellier was getting horrible reviews last year and Teppen Edo was getting rav reviews so I switched a prime time LeCellier ADR for a late Teppen Edo ADR and I still regret it.

As far as the noise level goes. I didn't think it was overly loud but it was not quiet either. Kona is an open restaurant and is right next door so I think they would be equally as noisey.

We eat here every trip for both breakfast and dinner. Definitely a favorite place for my family. There is something for everyone and plenty of it. I agree some of the meats at dinner tend to be a little dry. Dip it in a little of the yummy sauce and all is right again!

The restaurant can get a little loud during dinner, especially if you are seated close to the festivities (coconut races, hula hoops, singing, etc). The outer tables are more bearable and you can hold a normal conversation without any problems.

It's absolutely one of our faves! We've eaten there I think 4 times. I don't think it is terribly over-stimulating, in fact, on one of our trips, both kids fell asleep in the stroller while we were waiting, and we were seated right on the edge of the lane where they do the hula, races, etc. Neither kid budged! It was the most relaxing meal of the trip! :rotfl:

On our visit there in January, our server seemed very rushed, which initially set the tone for my hubby and I-we were scarfing down food like someone was going to take it away. We both looked at each other and laughed, took a deep breath then took our time and enjoyed! Don't let the server rush you!! The food there is outstanding! The turkey is a bit dry in my opinion, but hubby likes it. I LOVE the steak and all the sides! YUM!!!

That's funny...I have been having the same second thought. I have a ressie for Ohana, but I was thinking about changing to Kona. I have read several posts that said they wished they had gone to Kona instead. But I'm glad to hear all the positives...so I'm back to leaning toward Ohana:confused3

I am one of the few who much preferred Kona - I'd go there for the bread alone!!!!

We are in the minority I know, but were very dissapointed with Ohana. The service was extremely rushed - they slammed our bread, salad, noodles, and brocolli on the table all at once, and then came directly around with the meats...which were in fact kind of dry...I would have loved the shrimp but they weren't de-veined which kind of grossed me out...I know I am going to get flamed for a bad review of the beloved Ohana but I won't rush back that's for sure...when we asked our server for more potstickers, she pretty much ignored us, and we had to ask the chef when he walked by our table....it was bizarre. She even came by once and said "How is everything?" at which point my fiance was going to ask for more meat, and she just rushed off without waiting for an answer....very weird.

The dessert however was heaven in a bowl - if I ever go back it will be to get some more of that!!!!

We have dinner reservations for out last night there. I've been reading reviews and I haven't read of anyone who has had a good meal there?

:lmao: That's funny.

'Ohana's dinner is one of the MOST popular venues at WDW. Just ask the zillion folks that are trying to get a dinner ADR there.

We LOVE  'Ohana's! How much? So much that we are eating dinner there 3 times during our 9 night stay! This will be our 3rd year eating dinner at 'Ohana's and we can't wait! We actually dream about it during the rest of the year...scary, but true.

Don't give up your ressie; you won't regret it! The steak is melt-in-your-mouth good and cuts with a fork.

TIP: Let your server know right from the start what kind of meal you are wanting. Most of the time we prefer the fast rotation of the different courses cause' we have things to do and places to be. But, if you want a more slow paced experience, tell them. They are working for your tip and are always happy to oblige.
