Just a heads up for anyone heading to the world this week. We ate at Ohana last week and the firepit was being rehabbed. All meats came from Kona's. They were less then tasty and not worth the time to go there. Be sure and find out if the firepit is still down before eating there.

That was a bummer, any word on how long this rehab may be for? Not sure how we can find out unless someone asks at O'Hana.

Yikes! We must find out......where to find the number for O'hana....

Wow--without the fire pit the meat would not be the same at all. Just like any other entree order.
Be sure and call prior to your seating so that you could get a PS somewhere else if necessary.
The fire is the FLAVOR!!

Oh no! We have a PS there on 10/25 for my bday. Any idea how long the rehab will last? Such a bummer, but I'm not completely opposed to finding a new place to love.

Thanks for posting the head's up. It would have been a great dissapointment.

I have a PS for next Thursday 10-21-04! I certainly don't want to go if the pit is not working!!!

Keep us posted if any info is available!!:(

I will have to change my plans!

Oh my! I have to find out about this too, DH would be so bummed without the fired meat.

Anyone have any more details on how long the rehab will take? We have 30 days still I wonder if it could possibly take that long...

If someone wants to call: 407-824-2000 and ask to speak with the manager of Ohana, you should be able to find out how long the work is scheduled for.

HTH

Keep us posted.
Supposed to go the first week of November.
Just wouldn't be the same without the fire pit.

I read on another thread that someone ate there last friday and the meat was coming from the fire pit.

Hope this helps!

We ate there for dinner Monday the 4th and the grill was all apart. The next couple days there was a large crain putting a huge exhaust on top the GCH roof. For the next few days there was a lot of hammering going on in there. When we ate breakfast at Ohana on Sunday the 10th the grill looked back together but the CM told me that it was still going under rehab. Don't know if she was correct now that someone said they ate there 2 days before though. It sounds like it is open to me now. I would definitely not eat there again without the grill. If we weren't so hungry we would have went somewhere else. They could have at least called everyone that had a PS ahead of time so that we could have made a better PS somewhere else. Telling us at our PS check in time was a little late.

Just called Disney Dining and they called the Poly to check, and told me that the fire pit is now back up and running.

If I were going in the next couple days, I'd check when I got to WDW though before showing up for my ressie!

Good thing it should be going when we get there, DH was freaking out LOL.

"It's just not Ohana without FIRE!" says he.

Hhmmm, I don't mean to throw a wrench into things, but...

I called Disney Dining about two hours ago to check on this. I was told that yes, the fire pit is still down. The reservationist wasn't able to tell me when it was expected to be back up. She tried calling Ohana directly while I waited, but they weren't answering the phone, it must have been just before opening for dinner.

I was planning on calling again later tonight to follow up on that, and now I've read RoLaren's post. Who knows what to think!

I've decided to make a back-up PS, and find out that day if the fire is burning. Now, any ideas for a fun back up for a group of 10?

Nicole

I.ve scheduled a backup. We're supposed to be O'hana's on the 22nd. I know there's a good chance it will be ready by then, but it's better to have a backup--just in case.

Hey, we are going to be there on 10/25 for our anniversary dinner! I really hope the pit is finished. I have arranged for a cake to be served after dinner at Ohana's. OMG I hope it will be done!
Anyone gotten any definate anwers yet, or should I say any confirmation that it is up yet (any disr's there in the past day or so)?
Tikiman, do you have any idea?

Thanks,

ok this is really weird! I just called Ohana's and spoke to a bartender and he said it has been working all last week and this week. He said he was looking at it right now and it is going just fine.
Well, he must be crazy too...... I would believe a Diser over a person working there. Now, is there something wrong with this picture???? Their crediblity lately has been for the birds.....What do you all think?

That is pretty incredible that he doesn't even know it was down last week! All the food came from Kona's. The shrimp were kind of mushy, the turkey very dry and tastless, and the pork chewy. Maybe he is just seeing it up now and assuming it was never down. I know what I was told and saw. The grill was even apart during our meal and some guy was hammering away. I even remarked to our waitress if the guy was ever getting off work as it was 6pm and he was hammering away! LOL! My mom couldn't believe they had the noise going on there while there were people eating. Maybe they were in a hurry to get the job done. Who knows!

we were there this weekend, and they were working on saturday night............ yummy...

Well, I just asked DH specifically about the fire pit. He said it was working on 10/5. The hostess walked them by it and a guy was cooking on it. I wasn't there, but that's what DH said. :)
