DH, DD5 & myself are thinking of trying something different next trip. I've never gone to Ohana or WCC and both sound fun. So, which one do you recommend? Or does anybody have any other non character dinning recommendations?

Thanks

Oh my gosh. Those are probably two of the best restaurants on property. While I am sure that you would enjoy both, I think that your daughter would have more fun at Whispering Canyons Cafe. Pass the Ketchup is so much fun. The WL is a fun atmosphere and you can go hang out by the geyser or go on a Hidden Mickey Tour before you eat. Just ask at the front desk for the clues. So much fun!!!

Ohana is only a character meal at breakfast and WCC is not. We have been to both and had a lot of fun at both. WCC is very loud and rowdy and while there is always plenty of "show" going on around you, its not guaranteed that your wait person will be as active as some of the others. This seems to cause a lot of disappointment among some people. Ohana has a lot of "show" as well without being quite as loud and rowdy. Over the last 4 years our DS9 has requested us going to both each visit, he prefers Ohana for breakfast because he has always been a huge Stitch fan and he prefers WCC at dinner because he likes the rowdier action that seems to be more prevalent at that time.

I think if you are looking for a character meal you should do Ohana for breakfast. If your looking for fun, go with WCC.

I hope this helps some in your decision.

We much prefer 'Ohana. WCC is loud for no purpose and the service there is mediocre and uneven. 'Ohana is total Disney silliness.

Both are good it depends on what you're looking for:

Ohana: family style buffet. Very similar to a Brazlian steakhouse.

WCC: menu; BBQ food.

That's a toss-up b/c they are soooooo similar, meaning great family-friendly restaurants with very active waiters and many activities to participate in while eating. Either one is good! We're going to both for our 4th of July trip. :)

Just one more thing: one thing you can do with Ohana (that you can't with WCC) is watch Wishes! from it.

Thanks for the replies. I still don't know which one to pick (or maybe I should just do both). But at leat now I have more info!

Thanks

We just got back a few days ago, and we ate at both Ohana and WCC. I would definately pick Ohana over WCC, the food is much better. The food at WCC was just so-so. I'm hoping to start my dining reviews (WITH PICS:cool1: ) tonight so I should have a more thorough review of both places the next couple of days.

If time allows, do both :goodvibes. Otherwise, they are both great restaurants and you can't go wrong with either one.....you will get a great meal and fun evening at either place ::yes::. As a pp said, WCC is a much louder place than Ohana. If you're looking for some place loud with silly antics, go with WCC; if you want something a little quiet and relaxing, go with Ohana :thumbsup2.

We are doing both this year. We did WCC our last trip and my dd's insisted we do it again! They loved it!! We liked the food, but we all love ribs and bbq. We can't wait to try Ohana's this year. We did the Ohana breakfast and loved the atmosphere, now we can't wait to try the dinner. My vote, DO BOTH

We ate at both places this past Sept. We really enjoyed O'hana - the food was pretty good (smoked turkey & steak served on skewers) & it had a nice atmosphere with the Polynesian theming. Whispering Canyon was also pretty good, but we didn't like the atmosphere as much. Whispering Canyon was much more loud & rowdy and the servers' antics seemed to get old pretty quick. However, Whispering Canyon had an excellent dessert: S'more Cheesecake - which is almost worth going back for by itself. Another thing to consider is transportation: O'hana is fairly easy to get to, especially if you're at MK or Epcot (just hop on the monorail). For Whispering Canyon, we had to take a boat to get to the WL from MK, which seemed to take forever.

I look forward to reading your reviews.
