My first post on the disboards!!:cool1: But have been reading for a LONG time! Finally talked DH into a Christmas trip and plans are to stay at WL....
Which would you recommend? Me and Dh 2 boys 5 and 2 :)

Either one would be really enjoyable for your family. You should just check out the menus and see which one appeals to you more. You could do breakfast at Ohana, that is really fun for kids...they do a little parade around the restaurant for the kids every hour. So cute.

WCC was delish and so loud and fun...hobby horse races and bottomless milkshakes!

we did both back in December 2009 - both were dinners. Enjoyed them both - O'Hana was great with all the food and the view of the castle out the window, etc. WCC was simply entertaining with good "home" cooking. Didn't do breakfast at either location so can't comment on that.

Hard to go wrong either way. But if it were me, I'd go with O'Hana to get out to another resort (since you are staying at WL).

We've done 'Ohana and really enjoyed it. In fact, I really wanted to do it again this next trip in June. In the end, I decided on WCC for the simple reason that - at the end of a long day at MK - the last thing we want to do is wait around forever for a table to be called for us. Apparently 'Ohana has ridiculous wait times compared to other restaurants, and my little guy won't handle that very well after a long day at the parks.

I would go to Whispering Canyon Cafe. For dinner, I didn't think it was the best food in the world... but people enjoy themselves there. DS had fun there at age 3 and 5. In Dec. 2010, I thought the food was OK but didn't like the ribs (fatty). There were plenty of adults without children enjoying all the antics and joking around... although you might want to skip the stickhorse race (smile).

If I were staying at Wilderness Lodge, I'd come back to WCC. But I'd also go to Artist Point....
Have fun planning your trip!

I had a very unpleasant experience at Ohana dinner -- not going back there again. You can read about it in my review (link below).

Thanks for the replies! One reason I had thought of Ohana's is like a pp stated to see another resort! I think the kiddos would like the food better at WCC tho....how long does the dinner at WCC normally last?

If you want to visit the Polynesian Resort... on most nights, there's a welcome the night ceremony at about 6pm in front of the resort with fire juggling and lighting the tiki torches. It's only 10-15 minutes long but would be fun. Go to the check-in desk inside and get some free Hawaiian leis, walk on the beach and look at the castle. Get an ice cream or something from the quick service place. That's what I'd do. You can also see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach... and the lighted boat parade (passes by around 9/9:15pm?) You could take the monorail from MK to the Polynesian then take the friendship boat back.

I have been to both for dinner and I thought Ohana was amazing. Food and service were excellent, and there was good entertainment for the kids. WCC was fun too, but food wise it was just okay.

If the food at Ohana's does not appeal to the children, u can ask the waiter for a list of other options. My son usually gets chicken tenders and fries. Ohana's in my opinion has much better food than WCC,( love the bread pudding, worth the trip alone) but the atmoshphere is fun for kids at both.

My opinion may be skewed because my 1.5 year old had a big meltdown at Whispering Canyon, but we liked the food way better at O'hana. In terms of entertainment, my DD was too little for the "races" at O'hana and the silly antics at Whispering Canyon. I enjoyed the atmosphere of both places.

Our kids LOVE WCC! We went to Ohana and the kids weren't thrilled with the food, neither were we for that matter. But at WCC, the skillet to share is awesome, and the kids LOVE the bottomless shakes.:thumbsup2

I really like both but if I had to choose only 1, it's Ohana hands down.

Whispering Canyon is fun and the food is good and we will/are returning for our next trip. The kids loved it, and we got a few good chuckles ourselves. Your server can totally make or break your experience though.

Ohana is our FAVORITE restaurant.....ya just can't go wrong. Food is delicious!
For us, it's a not to miss. :thumbsup2

Last June we got the CS dining plan and we went to the Poly to eat the counter service restaruant. It was really good and I got to try the Dole Whip. In addition we walked out on the beach and relaxed for a while. We had gone there to eat at Ohana and Kona several times but we had never taken the time to just enjoy seeing the resort. You might consider going there for a counter service dinner or lunch.

Ohana, hands down, not a big fan of the antics at Whispering Canyon, Ohana is loud, and there's a lot of things going on for the kids, but the servers leave you alone for the most part (I realize this is a lot of people's favorite part of Whispering Canyon, it just wasn't for us)
