'Ohana or the Luau?

Just booked the trip for January 2010 at the Poly. I think we have a pretty good idea of where we want to eat, but now we need to decide if we will have dinner at 'Ohana or the Spirit of Aloha Polynesian Luau.

I wasn't aware that there was any entertainment at 'Ohana until I was reading some reviews today. And many of the reviews I have read seem to indicate that the food at 'Ohana is better than the Luau. So, I'm thinking that if we skip the Luau and have dinner at 'Ohana, we'll have a better meal, entertainment for the kids (although not a flame show), and not spend the two table service credits (we're on the dining plan).

What's your opinion?

You can check out recent reviews for both over at allears.net.

I've read many reports of people being disappointed in the Luau, but 'Ohana remains one of the most popular restaurants at WDW. That should tell you something! I think your family would be fine skipping the luau.

We really enjoy the character breakfast at 'Ohana too.

Thanks for the input. We still have some time to decide, but it looks like 'Ohana. And that frees up a TS credit - which means we'll likely head over to Boma.

I guess I'll be the dissenter - we enjoyed the luau much more than 'Ohana on our last trips. We won't be doing 'Ohana for dinner any more, breakfast only (which was great). We thought the luau was a great show and the food was pretty good - nothing outstanding, but it was better than our meal at 'Ohana which was marginal at best. I don't get the popularity of 'Ohana for dinner. :confused3
