Hi all! I'm attempting to chose between 'Ohana and Spirit of Aloha for our "down time" night. Obvious pro is that 'Ohana only takes one meal allotment (I'm on the dining plan), but if SOA is worth it, I'm willing to use the extra or pay OOP. What do you guys think? I've never done 'Ohana for dinner and did SOA when I was like 3 lol. Food? Atmosphere? Service? I want to hear it all! Thanks

We did Spirit of Aloha last March. It was okay, but the food was nothing special. To me, 'Ohana has the best valued meal on Disney property. It's basically like going to a Brazilian Steakhouse for about half the cost.

Ohana, definitely. SOA is overpriced to me, and not really worth it. Its outside too, so if its hot out, its pretty ungodly in there. We were miserable. My sensory avoidant DD (7 at the time) had to leave actually, she couldn't stand it, so we REALLY wasted 2 credits each because we didn't even stay for the end of the show.

Ohana wasn't my favorite either, but I am not a huge meat eater. If you like meat, its great, LOL. I did enjoy all the sides though.

Overall, I had a better time at Ohana than SOA.

we did the luau two weeks ago and the food was pretty darn good...we liked all the new additions to the menu ...The pulled pork was a big hit with some, and we had to have seconds on that , the chicken (delicious) and the pork ribs.. The bread is amazing and we really did enjoy the entertainment...

so really it is to each their own...we were in tier one and had great seats ...we are not big drinkers but the beer and the wine were good too...they kept on bringing more evne if there was only an inch gone...they like to make sure that the drinks are cold...I did appreciate that..
The bread pudding was delicious too

Neither. Ohana is not down time. Can be loud and hectic. SOA boring.
And neither one have good food.

Thank you! This sounds silly but the outdoor thing didn't occur to me. I assumed they had fans or something to keep it fairly cool. DBF is a bigger guy and I don't think he'd enjoy the heat! Granted, we are going in September when it is always hot but it'd be nice to get a little reprieve in the air conditioning. Thanks!

I probably should have worded it better. What I meant by "down time" is that we won't be rushing to a park immediately after, so the amount of time we stay isn't a huge issue.

Where would you recommend? I'd prefer something on the monorail line.

We ate at 'Ohana in February and had a great meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The food was very good and plentiful. The kids get hula lessons and have coconut races, which is cute. If you don't have kids with you, then you could request a table that is away from that area. But all in all it was fun:thumbsup2.
