Ohana or Sanaa?

So I finally got the elusive O'hana ressie for our arrival night. Before this, I had myself talked into Sanaa because #1 we're staying at Kidani and #2 trying to broaden our horizons a little. My concerns are that the menu doesn't really appeal to me that much, and our boys (ages 5, 6 and 10) are fairly picky. Once we check into Kidani, I don't know if I will be able to pry them out of there the first night anyway! Being able to see the animals is a big plus, but O'Hana is fun (and familiar) too!

What to do, what to do?

We ate at Sanaa in November 2009 and it was DH's must return for our upcoming trip. We thought it was tasty and the food wasn't spicy. I had the fish in a broth (sustainable fish) and the flavor was very mild. DH had the Cornish Hen and it was delicious. The bread service is very good too. The kids food were typical kids items - my kids both had the meaty macaroni. Their desserts were delish - giant slices of chocolate cake, which was a bit different from other kids menu stuff at other places.

We're doing both Ohana and Sanaa in March. I haven't done Ohana before.

Sanaa - hands down!

We just got home from our trip and Sanaa was truly amazing! We ate there twice and would have gone more if time allowed.

Ohana was a waste of time and money - the food and service were horrible. When we thought of what we could have had at Sanaa instead, it was truly depressing.

I was surprised that my parents and in-laws loved Sanaa since they're not into Indian spices - but they loved it. The tomato soup is delcious. The pork chop was wonderful. The tandoori chicken was delicious. (If they don't know about the sauces, they can request the sauces on the sides and add them if they like them.) Plus the view out of the windows is amazing!

Have fun at Kidani! We had a blast!

We absolutely love 'Ohana but we have not eaten at Sanaa yet. The menu looks a bit risky for our palate as well.

Ate at both places in April, my kids were 4, 6 and 9 at the time. While we did enjoy O'hana and will be doing it again, Sanna would be my pick out of the 2. The kids menu is regualar food. My oldest and I actually split my dish (he loves curry) and who doesn't like Naan Bread:)

We stayed at Kidani too and LOVED every bit of this restaurant and resort.

Good luck and Happy planning:)

Sanaa, hands down.
The food is not spicy hot at all, just very flavorful. The restaurant - even without the savannah view - is beautiful. I can't imagine staying at Kidani and not eating there.
I thought the Ohana dinner was just okay. There's no contest between these two, IMO.

I've never eaten at 'Ohana, and there's good reason for that. The menu and dining style, for us, don't justify the cost. Sure, it has a nice theme and location, but the menu is pretty boring and limited. I'm not going to pay the price they charge when I can go elsewhere and find better options.

Sanaa is one of those places. Good prices, for Disney at least, and a diverse and exciting menu. The eye-level savannah view is pretty nice, too.

I think Sanaa is a great choice and your boys should be fine as they have kid type food on the kids menu and Disney will work really hard to make something that they will like. Start with the bread service as it is very hard not to like naan and then go from there!

I go with Sanaa as well. My DDs are not big carnivores, and the sides at 'Ohana are not in their wheelhouse, either. Sanaa had actual mini-grown-up food for my DD5 that she enjoyed, and a freshly made pizza on naan bread for my picky DD3 who would not eat the pizza anywhere else on property that trip.

I think that the chef and the kitchen team at Sanaa are just plain good at what they do. They have, I guess, had to be inventive and innovative getting the restaurant off the ground over the last year or two, and I think trying to forge a reputation helps motivate the staff.

oH MAN, I am an O'Hana Fan!!! My favorite placee in Disney, nothing beats all that amazing food and right off the grill chicken, steak, bbq pork, shrimp. AND its never ending!!

With kids, I think Ohana is a better bet. Personally, I loved Sanaa and plan on going back, but it's not really a "kids" place, KWIM? There will be kids, it's very welcoming to kids, it just has a more mature atmosphere (at least when we were there). Basically, the kids will enjoy Ohana a lot more.

I vote for Sanaa only d/t it being your arrival day and you may want to explore.

We did both on our trip this summer, and we all agree unanimously: 'Ohana!

Not that we didn't love Sanaa, 'cause we did, but 'Ohana is just the best!

But still please consider: Sanaa is in your own resort and will save you the travel time, and it sounds like you have already done 'Ohana, so maybe it's time for something new? I agree with your arguement for a good reason to give Sanaa a try!

Is there any way you can do Sanaa your first night for the convenience, and still work in 'Ohana for a different night? That's what I would do!

Whatever you decide, enjoy! It's a lucky decision to have to make.:goodvibes

Been to both...'Ohana many times. We think Sanaa is by far the better restaurant.

We loved Sanaa - went there last week and had a seat right by the window so we saw a lot of animals but not near as many as we saw from our 'own savannah view' across the savanaah at AKL kudu trail. The kids enjoyed their meals there and are both picky eaters - one with food allergies. My daughter didn't like the kids meal choices but they made her macaroni without sauce or meat on it (at her request). The kids also got gigantic smoothie drinks that tasted awesome and were included with the meal. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals (i had the curry/slow cooker sampler) and I forget what my husband had but it wasn't the prime rib, which I thought for sure he'd go for since he is less adventurous.
