Ohana or Chef Mickey's?

Have you considered an early AR at Crystal Palace. Then you can get into the park early & have a nice quiet walk down Main Street.

we have done both several times. everyone seems to love chef mickeys but the service last time i was there wasn't very good. ohana has always been a fav. of mine although not a buffet so limited choices. ohana could possibly give you a water view table which is nice and truthfully i dont think many of us go to these character meals for the "great food".

Funny, I was going to say everyone seems to love O'hanas....but when we tried it in May (for b'fast) it was a BIG disappointment. From char interaction...to the food. The only thing to rave about was the pineapple bread. All of us had gastrointestinal problems starting about 20mins after the meal. It definitely took the "rest" out of our day of rest. Though truly, you can run into a bad day anywhere. People do love o'hanas...and we're trying it again in Dec! so we can dine w/ Lilo & stitch!!!

That being said, I prefer Chef Mickeys. Great food, the buffet is hot and fresh and good character interaction. Being in the contemporary....the monorail...it just screams "Disney". We love to begin our vaca'ns there!!!! :goodvibes

We really enjoy both of these - but would have to vote for 'Ohanna's over Chef Mickey's - we usually do both each trip, but if I had to pick, I'd go to 'Ohanna's first. We've always had much better character interaction here over Chef Mickey's - it's usually much less crowded, so I think the characters have more time to spend with you. It's also nice to have the food brought to your table instead of running back & forth to the buffet throughout the meal.

They're both great, though! :)

If you're looking for a character breakfast, we peeked in on OHana's a couple weeks ago and it looked like the kids were having a lot of fun.

If you are staying at the Polynesian, I wouldn't go to Chef Mickey's. To much travelling. Getting to the park is hectic enough. The food at Ohanna's is very good. If your kids are really into the Characters, Chef Mickey's is probably a little better. Many more choices at CM's buffet also. Ohanna's is a sit down, all you can eat.

My suggestion is to do what a previous respondent said. Go to Chrystal Palase instead. We normally make the latest possible breakfast reservation and treat the meal more as a brunch. On the day of early admission to the park, we eat an early snack at the hotel to tide us until our reservation at 10:45 am. We hit the park and do all of Fantasy Land, Space Mountain, Motor Speed way, and get a fast pass for Splash Mountain. Then we go eat our brunch, save money by skipping lunch, finish the park and head back to the hotel in the early afternoon to beat the heat and crowds.

Wow, what a good idea that was. I called right away and got a 8:05 am for our morning. We have dinner ADR there for that night, I'm going to cancel. I like breakfast ideas better. Thanks!

See I am trying different Character Breakfasts, this year Ohana's, last year Cape May, year before Chef Mickeys, before that Crystal Palace, etc. The point is I go where I am not staying, can not afford the Deluxe resorts and that way we (my kids and I) get to see the places we will probably never be able to see otherwise.

We do the same thing. Although we've only been to WDW twice, we are planning to have breakfast on the last day of our trip in a different place. The first year we did Chef Mickeys and CRT a couple of days into the trip since that was the only time I ever see myself going there again due to the price. This past summer we did 1900 Park Fare. So far, my favorite is Chef Mickeys.
The week after Thanksgiving, my husband has a business trip to Orlando and I get to go with him, so I thought we should do a breakfast again. Can't decide which one. The kids won't be with us, but that never stopped us from having fun!

I had breakfast at Chef Mickey's in September. We had the first ADR of the day and the restaurant was not crowded. The character intereaction was great, but the food was really mediocre. I was disappointed. In addition to Chef Mickey's, I also tried breakfast at Crystal Palace, Boma, and 1900 Park Fare. Of the three, Boma had the best food.

While I did not eat breakfast at O'Hanna's, I did pass by the restaurant one morning shortly before it opened. Mickey, Chip, and Dale were in front of the restaurant greeting people and posing for pictures with anyone who wanted to visit with them. It was a nice bit of Disney magic.

Ohana now has Lilo and Stich for breakfast, so if your kids are big fans, then I'm sure they would love it! They do bring everything right to your table, so you can sit back and enjoy. Yummy Mickey waffles, too! ::MickeyMo It's also much less crowded than Chef Mickeys.
