Ohana or Boma for dinner?

This is for my upcoming honeymoon trip in September, and I am looking for some advice. For our first full day at Disney we are planning on spending the day and night at Magic Kingdom. We are going to be attending the pirates and princesses party that night and would like to do a 1 TS credit dinner as we have Cali Grill booked for later that week.

I am torn between Boma and Ohana or Kona. It seems as though most reviews lean towards Boma having better food and Ohana having an awesome atmosphere.

My thoughts are that at some point during the full day at MK we will want to go back to our resort (POFQ) and clean up before heading back to the park. Would trying to make it all the way to Animal Kingdom before the Pirates and Princesses Party be too much to handle or not? I know it would probably save time to have dinner at the Poly vs AK.

what are your thoughts on this?
thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the boards! And early Congrats on your nuptuals!

Both places are my BF and I favs (or 2 of them!). You can't go wrong with either. BUT I think if you are going to be at the MK after your meal I would have dinner at Ohana. You have a time table and I think it would work out better.

Plus if you miss Boma this time you will HAVE to come back!

Have a great trip!

Thanks!

I know, I wish we had the time to do Animal Kingdom!

The plan is
day 1 - MK
day 2 - Epcot (day) MGM (night)
day 3 downtown disney/shopping and resort pools and relaxation

anyone think i should swap Epcot for Animal Kingdom?

I would suggest going to O'hana. My husband and I have tried both Boma and O'hana and we both liked the food better at O'hana. The food at Boma was great just a little different then what I am used to. As far as going to Boma before the Party, if you go early enough, you should have plenty of time. You may miss the very beginning of the party but you should have plenty of time to see everything. If you want to see Jack Sparrow, you may want to do that first thing, maybe while the first parade is going on. We went in January and we missed seeing him. We thought we would have pleanty of time and did that last and the park closed before we got through the line. Anyway, hope you have a great time. Oogsdaughter

Swap EC with AK?

That is a tough one. I enjoy Animal Kingdom. I enjoy Epcot. They are very different parks so it would be tough to chose.

I am not sure where you are eating other days but Boma is at the Animal Kingdom Lodge not the park so you do not need a ticket to get in.

I would keep with your schedule...like I said you will have to come back!

Last time I was at O'hana the food was just ok ....
Nothing special after being there brefore for us.

when we went there last year I loved both Boma and Ohana. Boma though was really busy and Ohana wasnt so much at the time also I like the idea that you get the food brought to you at Ohana, and at Boma you have to wait in line to get it. Now if you ask my family they all voted Ohana the fave meal of the trip and didnt care for Boma so much, but I love love love that butternut squash soup (dont know if that would be on the menu right now or not we went in the fall).. I dont really think you could go wrong with either one though.. good luck!:thumbsup2

thanks for everyon'e suggestions!

I tried to get a reservation at Ohana and they were all booked up. I was able to make a reservation for 4:30 at Boma which should be early enough to eat and get to the party on time. The food at Boma is definitely more interesting and appealing to me, but I want to hit the poly to do something. Maybe we can go to the poly bar before Cali grill Wednesday night. :confused3

None of us really cared for Boma that much but all loved Ohana. So my vote would be for Ohana.

I am a meat eater and i did not care for O'Hana's at all. My wife would not touch anythng and they brought her some other stuff like a vegetarian plate and she didnt eat that...I havent been to Boma its scheduled for our Dec. trip so I cannot comment. I do know we wont be back to O'hana's

I felt rushed at 'Ohana. Even though I requested they give us 15 min (at least ) to enjoy each course~ The hot aps were dumped on the table as soom as I had my first bite of salad:sad2: The meats were cold (Even though this was a 5:00 seating when they opened):confused3 I left there with a big :headache: and an empty stomach:snooty:

I'm also a meat eater and I thought O'Hana was pretty terrible.

I should have added that I have felt the food at Boma is consistently wonderful.
