Ohana or Biergarten???

So we are leaving in 6 days and I have been trying FOREVER to get ressies at Ohana for dinner. I finally got one and I booked it, but it is on our Epcot day. We were planning to return to Epcot after a nap and tour the WS and have dinner at Biergarten. We have not eaten at either of these restaurants. I have a DD5 and DS2 so I thought the music at Biergarten would be fun for them. They eat anything...So I would be forfeiting our Epcot evening and can't really work it in anywhere else. Is Ohana worth it? We are staying at the Poly...HELP!!!

I say O'Hana is worth it! They have different acitivities they do with the kids they get them out on the floor and do all kinds of fun things!!

Keeping my eye on this. I'm curious as to what people say about Biergarten. We ate at Ohanas last year. We are among the few who did not care for Ohanas. I read so many good things about it, but we did not really care for the food. We are thinking about Biergarten this year so I hope you get some posivite feedback here.

I have never been to Biergarten, but have had nothing but good experiences at Ohana's. The food and atmosphere are both amazing. If you have never been to Ohana's I would say it is definetly worth it to go.

The only little complaint I do have is last year we had to wait 2 hours for our table. Of course it was Feb. vacation week but it made us miss Illuminations that night, so just be alittle aware. To be fair though the first two times we went there that week we were seated in minutes so they must have just been having a bad night.

Well that being said If I were you then i wouldn't go for O'Hana! The food at O'Hana is Grilled over Open Flame it was very tasty I thought ! The sides were really good also the Pot Stickers were amazing I have never had them before here! The dessert is to die for in my opinion! I have never been to Biergarten so I cannot compare sorry! But if you really didn't like the other skewer type food you probably won't like this! I would keep both ressies and wait til last possible minute to cancel when you know you have definitely made your mind up
Also know that if you do choose O'Hana and someone doesn't like something you can request them to bring you something else my friend has done this for her children . But I would definitely wait to compare thoughts on this with someone that has gone to both if your lucky enough to have someone drop in that has!

There is another advantage to O'hanas. Depending on the time of your reservation you get to see Wishes at MK and the pipe the music into the restaurant. It makes for a nice end to the evening if you are still there when the fireworks show happens. The food is good and you do get as much as you want. We have eaten at Biergarten and did not really care for it that much. My vote is for O'hana

We did both last trip with my then 13 year old. Poly was awesome! We all loved the food, DS thought watching the littler kids do races and such was hilarious. Beirgarten was okay. My husband loves German food so we decided to go. It is A LOT of sausage and saurkraut (sp) and not a lot of much else. The music was interesting.

Both can be very fun, but my choice would be Ohana.

I decided I'd better read a little farther before asking the question. Is there any way to do a breakfast at Ohana or lunch at either instead of dinner? That way you could try both.

We just didn't like the food. I thought the wings were gross and peel and eat shrimp kinda gross me out since they aren't deveined. Yes I know it's safe but I still don't like to eat shrimp that way. The salad was good and the beef was ok. I guess becasue there is so much hype about Ohanas I was expecting more. I have to say I did have a great Pina Colada.We did not have a bad experience with getting our table. We were pretty much seated right at our reservation time. I think we had a 5:00 adr. From what I have read here most people do like Ohanas. That is why we we so excited to try it. It just wasn't what I thought it would be and we won't be going back.

We're foodies also (I've been a chef and restaurant manager) and were very underwhelmed by Ohana. The meats were dry and overcooked and the service was slow. We were only traveling as a couple and seated in the worst table possible, right next to the back entrance to the kitchen and within arm's reach of a busser's station into which all of the servers would scrape dirty plates.

Although the sticky wings and bread pudding were tasty they didn't make up for the mediocrity of the rest of the meal and experience. We will not return to Ohana.

We've eaten at Biergarten a number of times and, although it isn't as good as our local German restaurant, we've always had excellent service and the food quality has always been quite good. In addition, Biergarten's entertainment is surprisingly good.

thanks morganw42 - that is good info. see i was leaning towards not doing ohana for all of those reasons. but...that bread pudding sure looks good! i know we can always try it another time. the other thing that worries me is waiting an hour or more for a table when ds2 needs to go to bed. maybe i will keep trying for an earlier ADR on another night and get to keep both.
oh, and to answer, there is no lunch at ohana and we do have a breakfast there - but just to see mickey! i am not expecting much from the food.

I liked both, but Ohana is alot of meat. Also, we did feel a little rushed at Ohana. I would rather be in Epcot touring, have our meal and stay for Illuminations. I would keep the Biergarten.

my kids prefer Biergarten! there were many things for them to choose from to eat too. Chicken legs, rolls w/ butter salad, glazed carrots, roasted potatoes, marinated tomatoes and cucumbers, chicken shnitzel which looked like a chicken cutlet, and yummy dessert. My boys did not get up to dance but loved watching others and they are very interested in Music so the instruments that were played were wonderful to watch too.

Biergarten is our "must do" every trip! All of us have different tastes and likes and Biergarten is about the only place all 4 of us agree on!

We've been to both and much prefer Ohana. This will be our third year in a row there. We thought the food was much fresher and more interesting and we like family style service better than a buffet. We also liked the atmosphere better and you can watch Wishes from the beach after dinner. Also, at Biergarten you're seated with other people which could be a good or bad thing depending...

My kids had an AWESOME time at Biergarten last year. They absolutely loved the music and dance floor. They were 3 and 4.5 at the time. We are returning in 2 weeks. We will also be trying 'Ohana for the first time. My guess would be that the food is better at 'Ohana but Biergarten is more entertaining for the little ones. We'll see if I'm right! The food at Biergarten isn't bad at all though - it's pretty good. And we enjoyed the giant beers and beer flights. I doubt I'd give up an evening at Epcot for 'Ohana, considering the great restaurant choices at Epcot. Biergarten is a lot of fun too. Sure it's not a hard to get ressie, like 'Ohana, but that doesn't mean that it isn't great in its own way. It just isn't hyped up.

We are going to 'Ohana on our second MK night.

EDIT: The food at Biergarten is more than sausage and sauerkraut! I actually eat neither and was stuffed. There are carved meats, sauerbraten (at dinner), roasted chicken, chicken schnitzel (like chicken cutlets), warm potato salad, potato dumplings, spaetzle... It's really tasty.

We are among those that weren't crazy about the food at Ohana but that was mostly because the beef really was overcooked and dry. I think I read that you can request meat less well done? That might take care of that problem. We like the food at Biergarten very much. Both restaurants have fun entertainment for kids! I agree with those that said they would not give up an evening of touring Epcot just to eat at Ohana - definitely not.

My DD 10 loves Biergarten, DD% likes it because people can got on the dance floor and dance. If you kids are you you may want to go to Ohana. Great atmosphere.
