Ohana & Nut Allergy Question...

Besides the peanut sauce, is there anything at Ohana that should be avoided for someone with a nut allergy?

But let me relate a woderful experience we had there in Jan of 05
My wife has developed a fairly bad allergy to shrimp and other ocean crawlies
When we made our PS we told them and upon check in reminded them. The head chef came to our table to discuss the allergy with my wife, the steps he would take to keep her food safe for her including any cross contamination. I was rasied in the restautant business and was a perfessional chefs for years and my wife is a chemist and we were very impressed with their thourghness and thoughtfulness to make her feel secure.

And the Diner was our favorite of our whole trip.

PS my wife has a true nut allergy but not legums) and she had no reactions and did not mention it to the chef

my son also suffers from peanut and tree nut allergies... when i called to make our ADRs the CM noted it on our ressie, and gave me the telephone number of each individual restaurant that we chose, asking that i call 48 hours in advance of each meal to remind them... i was pleased w/their sense of caring...

that being said, while i trust ourselves and the chefs and waitstaff to do everything in their power to keep my ds safe, i am very leery of cross-contamination in the case of dishes of peanut sauce on each table... ds does not have to ingest peanuts/tree nuts in order to have a reaction, simply touching or breathing it could trigger one... ergo, we are opting to skip 'ohana this trip... dh and i are on the fence as to whether we'll leave the kiddos at the neverland club so we can enjoy the dinner... we'll make that decision when we get there...

We have an ADR there and my son is very allergic to cashew nuts. I wonder if I should also call ahead to let them know. I didn't have it noted on our ADR.

My daughter is allergic to all nuts, (peanuts, tree nuts) and then one time we gave her sweet and sour sauce from mcdonalds cause my other two were eating it, she broke out so fast and her whole face blew up, the dr. said he wasn't sure what was in it cause it doesn't state nuts but because of her severe allergies that we shoudl stay away from all sauces but ketchup. I really wanted to eat dinner at Ohana too but after seeing the sauces I opted against it, and reasoned is it really worth our trip to end up in an emergency room because we had to eat dinner there or can I find another place just as suitable for dinner. That is what we did, we decided to pick someplace else. My other dr. told me if people think that your crazy for being overly cautious than your doing your job as a mother.
