I haven't been here for awhile and now my search is not working but I was wondering if we figured out what is currently on the menu at Ohana. I know it was noodles in March (which were awesome) but I heard they were changing it back to potatoes. Any news?

About the 2nd week of July they changed it back to the potatoes. Multiple people have called and asked CMs what is being served and they said the potatoes are back. It is also on Allears menus (which is stamped, updated July, '08).

Has anyone been recently and can confirm that the potatoes are actually being served?

Potatoes are vegetables too. :lmao:

Some vegetarians don't eat cheese or milk (they're animal products) and these taters are loaded with both.

I guess they could have meat flavoring also but they just struck me as being regular ole scalloped potatoes.

It's too bad, I never got a chance to try the noodles.

We just returned yesterday from our trip, and noodles were served at our dinner on Monday. We spoke personally with the chef and asked him if potatoes were coming back and he said..."they were considering it".
He said they make changes to the menu seasonally.

We are going in Sept. and my DH does not know thy don't have the potatoes. I am not telling either just hoping for the change.

Wouldn't they be a vegan then? Or is there a special name for people who don't eat animals AND dairy?

Some vegetarians don't eat any dairy products but do eat eggs. So they wouldn't be vegans, instead they're ovo vegetarians. I'm the typical lacto-ovo vegetarian who eats eggs and dairy, but I usually just call myself a vegetarian.

I don't know what's in the potatoes at 'Ohana that would not make them vegetarian. It may simply be a cheese that has animal rennet in it. Chefs are sneaky and put stuff like chicken broth and gelatin in things you would never suspect. :rotfl:

No no, I CAN eat the potatoes, but last time I went I was glad I was able to kind of make a meal out of the noodles. Usually at Ohana their vegetarian option IS the noodles, so you get that with the rest of what is on your table. It was just easier when it came with the meal in March and it was unlimited! Plus, I doubt that is REAL milk and cheese in those potatoes LOL but they WERE good when I had them 2 years ago!

Thanks for the responses!

I'd be interested into what they have too. I hope the noodles, so I'll have something new to try, but I wouldn't mind the potatoes either, since they are so yummy.

My DH and I dined at 'Ohana last night and they were serving the noodles instead of the potatoes. Although we are fans of the potatoes, we LOVED the noodles! We think it fits the overall theming of the restaurant better also. The pork dumplings were much better than we have had them previously. Overall, an excellent meal! :thumbsup2

We ate at Ohana last Tuesday and it was noodles. They were delicious!

We were at 'Ohana this past Saturday and they were still serving noodles. Didn't see any potatoes at any of the tables. The noodles were very good as was the rest of the meal.:)
