Ohana Menu Change

So if you find one or two things here that you really like, say the wings and the potatoes...will they keep bringing you more of those things if you want more?

Thanks.

Yes, you can have as much of anything, that you wish.

I have eaten at 'Ohana several times, and unlike so many, I was looking forwrd to the new menu. I was not dissapointed!

I loved all of the new items except the new stir-fry veggies. I liked them, but I didn't love them - not crisp enough.

The new desert is the best sweet treat I have ever had at WDW. It was fantastic, and I nearly burst my stomach trying to eat all of it.

Many people have decided to skip 'Ohana after reading about the new menu, without even trying it. Still others try it but judge it too harshly, IMHO, simply because it'sdifferent. I went into it with as open a mind as I could, and I truly enjoyed all of the new foods.

Your Milage May Vary.

It's so funny- my veggies were practically raw. I've heard both extremes on this particular dish, too.

I'll give you my opinion dish by dish

Bread

No more bread, no replacement, nothing to judge :confused3

Salad

Mixed greens with honey lime dressing- :cloud9: same- yummy, sweet flavorful dressing

Starters

Wonton chips- different- :crazy2: the worst replacement- 1 ate exactly two bites, stale, flavorless greasy huge chinese noodles, nothing like the old crispy shrimp and veggie wontons

Dips- different- all were good, esp. the peanut, which came in handy for the meats :sunny:

Shrimp- new- delicious, but awkward to peel shell-on shrimp coated in a sticky sauce :p

Wings- same- still yummy, good coriander and honey flavors in sauce :cloud9:

Skewers

Steak- good :)

Pork- so-so, dried out :guilty:

Turkey- good :)

Sausage- horrible, bland, tasted like soy bologna, ate one bite

Sides

Scalloped Potatoes- okay, nothing special, tried a few bites, but decided not to waste my calories, they just didn't go with the skewers or Polynesian theme at all, :confused3 much preferred the fried rice

Vegetable Stir Fry- hard and inedible, practically a salad of hard raw veggies in a warm sauce

Dessert

Bread pudding and ice cream with bananas foster caramel sauce- the only improvement- actually better than the pineapple and caramel. I ate it all!! (I give credit where credit is due!) :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

IMO, the wonton chips, sausage and potatoes should be replaced immediately. The veggies seem hit or miss, so they need to get their technique down with length of cooking time. ( I do miss those green beans, though! They were a favorite dish!)

I know some people like the potatoes, even though I think rice or even lo mein would be much better, so I would be willing to go back if even just the 2 most horrible items- the sausage and wonton chips- were replaced. I think they need to negotiate with a better provider for the sausage, because there are some great sausages out there. As far as wonton chips, they need to brong back the old shrimp and veggie ones! Or at least give us spring rolls, or egg rolls or crab rangoon , or something that has something more to it than fried flour and water paste. :sad2:

However, if I could go there for half price or something and just eat two desserts, :lovestruc I would go in a heartbeat! :rolleyes1

I was unhappy with the changes also but after eating there in January, they are okay with me. I do miss the wontons and pineapple, but the cheesy potatoes and bread pudding are awesome. My mom really enjoyed the shrimp.

We totally enjoyed our meal at 'OHana in October, it was one of my favorite meals of the trip. The salad was crisp and good, the wonton chips were interesting, the wings are delicious and my DH and DS devoured the bowl of shrimp. I loved the new potatoes, I wish I had some now. The skewered meats were good, no one in our party liked the sausage. I was too full for desert, but DH and DS loved it.
Our service was wonderful too!
