i have seen some great pictures  and reviews of ohana restaurant and was wondering if non guests of disney can make a reservation there as it is in the polynesian resort i believe,if you can do i book through usual adr phone number and the 180 day jobby applies or not

Anyone can eat at any restaurant, in the parks or at a hotel. Use the usual Disney dining reservation number. Disney won't refuse your money!

I think that when we ate at O'hana, for dinner a few years ago, we (just two of us) just turned up and waited for the next table... had about an hour wait, but we just wondered around the resort and had a drink...

Wouldn't recommend NOT booking (since it is always risky and may involve hanging around).

Especially important to make ADR's now with the new DDP! Ive heard many restaurants were refusing walk ups!

:thumbsup2 thanks for the info did'nt realise you could walk round the hotels that could be useful if i decide to go again to florida,i am not a big theme park fan but thought i would go to see what all the fuss was about :rotfl2: kids will love it thats the main thing. :goodvibes

Neither did we for the first couple of trips. Now it's one of our favourite things to do. :thumbsup2

We love it too!

To be honest it is a great way to work out where you want to stay (or don't want to stay) on other trips... VERY useful!

Mozzman, go and look around the Yacht and Beach Clubs - it is amazingly beautiful in a beautiful area - you will fall in love ;)

You can walk around the hotels, have a good nose, use the restaurants and the bars and enjoy the atmosphere. The only things you can't do is use their pools or their fitness centres (fair enough).

Mozzman, go and explore and have loads of fun doing it :)

Mozzman,
You might find it surprisingly fun to go to some of the resorts. Until you've been there and seen it for yourself it's hard to imagine that each resort hotel can be so different--the theming, the restaurants and menus, and the gift shops (in large part they do NOT just have the same old thing from place to place.) My favorite place to stay is the Wilderness Lodge and the Mercantile in its lobby is a great, hotel specific gift shop. You could resort hop around Bay Lake--Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and the Contemporary by Disney Launch (the boats also go to Ft. Wilderness campground.) Just ride or drive to any of the hotels and catch a boat. You do not have to be a hotel guest or have a special ride pass or anything. Just hop onboard. The MK monorail connects the Poly, Grand Floridian and Contemporary, so you can have the fun of a monorail ride visiting those if you want. You can also boat between the Boardwalk and the Yacht and Beach Clubs. Take a walk around the Animal Kingdom Lodge, stroll around the pool area to the lookout and watch the African animals that live within viewing distance of the hotel. You might not want to spend days doing this since it's your first trip and you have kids who will no doubt want to be in the parks, but it might be worth a morning or afternoon, with a lunch or dinner for you and the kids somewhere along the way.
And about not being a theme park fan, I want to hear what you say when you return from this trip. If you haven't yet, find a map of WDW online and take a look at what percentage of the place is dedicated to the parks. There's so much more there--enough to explain why so many of us keep going back and finding new things to do along with all of our old favorites. Hope you a fabulous first trip. We want you to return to the US many times. Best wishes from Susan in Tulsa, Oklahoma
