At 7:30 a.m., I just tried to make an online reservation for 2 people for dinner at O'hana on September 21st and their was no availability. :confused3 How could it have filled in an hour-and-a-half since reservations opened this morning, especially for a lower attendance time like September. Something has to be afoot.

Yikes! I have to make my ressies Monday morning for a party of 5.

Have you tried playing around with different times for your dinner? If you are set on a specific time that could be a problem.

It is possible due to other people who hit their 180 mark before you and are able to make reservations

WOW
We booked yesterday for the date of July 28th. and got reservations for a party of 3 for 6:30pm.
You must be traveling a popular week!!
Keep trying.

Safe travels.

September may be low attendance for the parks but it's HIGH attendance for the restaurants. It's a sneaky little thing called free dining :thumbsup2

Also, although this date just opened up for your trip, other guests have been making adr's for their + 10.

I would try around with other times, maybe another night during your stay. Also, you could try to see if you could get a table for 1 or 3 people instead of 2. The system won't look for another size.

Good luck and keep trying. People cancell all the time!

Also, remember that while in general, seatings are not intentionally "held back", it does sometimes happen that just because of some peculiarities in how the system works, some seatings don't get loaded into the database right away. (I have this picture in my mind of a big load of flour being dumped into a mixing bowl!)

If that's what happened in this case, you may find availability appearing over the next couple of days that wasn't there this morning.

Another option - try asking for a reservation for three, instead of two.

ETA - I just tried for a party of two on 9/21 at 8pm - the system offered me a table at 8:10. Grab it right now!

Whenever you happen to be on line, just keep trying (and not always first thing in the am). Often things open up as people keep tweaking their plans. I was able to find a reservation like you were looking for this morning (I was just looking--didn't book it--so it may still be there).

I was having a heck of a time this morning getting any of the times I wanted, everything I had on my list I couldn't get until an hour after I wanted them! (At the least!) Then I posted in the dining res board and an angel came to my rescue! :worship: A poster said to not put breakfast or dinner or lunch as the time, instead type in a specific time. I did that and I got every. single. thing. at. the. exact. time. I. wanted. it!!!!

I just checked for you, and while it is coming up as nothing between 6-8, I can get 8:10 for 2 on the 21st, so try putting in 8:00 pm instead if that's not too late for you guys. :thumbsup2

Try getting a ADR for 3, I find there are less tables for 2 and have an easier time if you ask for 3 or 4.

It looks like we'll be there at the same time. I get to make our ADRs on Monday too! Good luck!

My 180 day mark is also today, also trying to make Ohana's for September 21, and was online this morning at 7:30am and couldn't get anything, I even called to confirm and she said the only thing available was 8:10pm.

What's +10?

You can make dining reservations 180 days in advance. Rather than making each one at what would be the 180 day mark, you're allowed at 180 days before your trip to make your first dining reservation and your other reservations up to 10 days.

How some reservations get filled is by others who have entered in the 180 + 10 day. If you have a reservation you REALLY want, you can put it in the later part of your trip to increase odds that you'll get it.

Hope all this makes sense.

I agree with Disneybliss2. I had someone in reservations tell me to book the popular restaurants like 'Ohana and Le Cellier for the end of our vacation. The people traveling a few days before us would have taken all the times at the beginning of our trip.

I tried it, and it worked. I got 'Ohana and Le Cellier for the exact times I wanted them for!!

:goodvibes

Our 180 day mark is Tuesday and I am REALLY hoping not to have to much trouble. How concerned do I need to be if I have a dining party of 7? :( Vacations shouldn't be so hard.

Can you only use the +10 option if you have a reservation number to enter/give the dining CM? That used to be a problem at DVC (not sure if it still is or not), but people will "walk" their villa reservations to increase odds of what they want. Book 10 before they actually want an call back daily to drop/add the next day.

If you don't have to enter a reservation number it would, theoretically, be pretty easy (although time consuming) to do the same things and "walk" dining reservations. Maybe you have to have the reservation number to book past 180 days - don't know :confused3

I always book online and never attach it to our reservation as I never have the number handy or feel like looking it up.

NOTE - I'm not encouraging this in ANY way - just wondering if that is one of the possibilities why things are gone at 0730. Of course free dining and popular places just have their own issues with booking.

Holy S***!!! I have to go make a phone call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP, I did exactly what disneybliss was talking about. We'll be there 9/16-24 and when I made my ressies Sunday at my 180 day mark, I intentionally made my LeCellier and 'Ohana ressies for the later part of my vacation so I could take advantage of the +10. I have ressies at 630pm for 'Ohana on 9/21. Good luck!
