Ohana dinner?

Ohana is our family's favorite dining spot in all of the World. The food is absolutely delicious and it is such a great family place. We even have a standing family tradition of having Ohana be our first night's dinner every trip. It is absolutely wonderful- just don't eat anything before you go because there is a lot of food!

We've never been to Kona so I can't comment on that - I didn't book that one because of the four kids and it seemed more uppity (if that is a word). We did, however, love Ohana. So much food and different types of dipping sauces which was so much fun and the kids didn't want what they were serving so they each got a huge plate of chicken fingers and fries for no extra charge. It was great and the "lady" that is the entertainer was great too and our kids loved the coconut game she played with them and the leighs are a nice souvenier that we all have now..

We've done Ohana a few times and when it first opened, it was fantastic. Subsequent trips later and the appeal, service and nature has changed, not for the good. We were rushed and forgotten, never asked for drink refills or even seen our waitress.

We started dining at Ohana well over a decade ago and we have the same observations and experiences.

... We got up and left, spoke with a manager and he apologized and gave us vouchers but we said no thanks, once bad is enough. At that price and to feel like a glorified buffet except they bring the food we prefer Kona, all the time.

I wish we would have thought of doing this the last time we gave Ohana another chance...the last chance...if the voucher allowed us to eat somewhere else.

Overall, we no longer recommend Ohana to friends, especially if their looking a consistent dining experience with quality food and service. It now rates as a tourist trap eating establishment in our minds...with a lot of hype.

We have stayed many vacations at the PR club and have always had a pleasant dining experiences at Kona. We personally feel the PR has the weakess TS dining offerings of the monorail resorts. Ohana needs an upgrade.

Arrive earlier then even recommended and ask for a window table. It helps if your party is 4 or less or 7-8.

We went to both during free dining Kona 2008 and Ohana 2009. Ohana was definitely better. The service at Kona was very slow. When we went in 2009 I hadn't been back in 3 yrs, it was DD26 and her family's first time. I must say that my SIL has a high standard when it comes to restaurants and he LOVED it. He wished we had booked more ADRs. They kept trying to book but of course everything was taken up. It was their first time during free dining and they are hoping for it again this year. I told them to apply for the Disney Visa Card. I also told daughter to figure out her dates and to make sure to make ADRs at 180 days out.

We will be a party of 6 which isn't the best. Where re the better seating areas? To see the fun?

Just ate at Ohanas last night. The food and service were terrific! The bread puddding was better than Raglan Road the night before. The waiter even brought 2 napkins for my mother to put on her shoulders because she was cold! If you can't get a windoe all you have to do is go down to the beach to watch Wishes.

After all the hype about Ohana our family was so excited to try it out in August. Kona is one of our favorites and we decided for that trip to pick Ohana over Kona. Never again. We were not impressed at all with our experience at Ohana. Its not that the food was bad, it just wasnt very good, definitely didn't live up to our expectations. Plus, when I was served the pork it was raw in the middle, gross! Needless to say, I don't think we will be heading back to Ohana again, but we have ressies for Kona for our June trip and are all looking forward to it.
