Ohana dinner vs WCC skillet

I will be on the Regular dinning plan. I'm trying to figure out which or both restaurant to visit. I really want to try Ohana and Whispering Cayon Cafe but feel they both have similar menu. I'm really leaning toward Ohana. Just dont want to have similar meal during our visit. Which one would you prefer and why?

I feel they are very different. I've done both (last year) and I'll give you my opinion of each.

I think that O'hana is a fun dinner because you can go outside and sit on a hammock and watch wishes if you time it right. The food is fabulous. I could drink the sauce that goes over the bannana dessert. It's a beautiful resort to have dinner at. The location can't be beat.

WCC is also fun, but it depends greatly on your server. It's loud, but honestly I've never laughed so much at dinner. Our server was really giving my son the business and she made our evening. Had we not had her I think it would have been on the dull side. The food was also very good and plentiful, but you can get good BBQ elsewhere, not just at WDW

I'd go for O'hanas.

We have done both and imo they are both good, but very different.
My family really liked both and we will be going to both on our next trip.

OMG without a thought it would be Ohana!! I don`t think the dinner there is even close to WCC. We like WCC for breakfast, however, have heard and read many threads that say the dinner is not so great. Ohana dinner is very similar to one of those Brazilian steakhouses, where they bring skewers of all kinds of meat around to your table, it is all you can eat. It has a very tropical flair and a hawaiian singer that goes around and sings and does games with the children. The bananas foster and bread pudding are to die for! And the kids love the green apple freezie drink. WCC is very fun at breakfast, very interactive if you want it to be! It`s a great start to a long day in the parks. Hope this helps.

We too are dealing with this decision. We booked WCC because we will have a toddler (22 months) and were worried that he wouldn't be able to share with us at Ohana's due to it basically being a carnivore buffet. While we won't be taking advantage of the server interaction, we figured that the environment alone would be entertaining for him, and that there were better food options in the skillet. Anyone disagree? We'd love to try Ohana's, but while buying a kid's meal is an option, it'd really be a waste of money considering how much he eats.

We've eaten at both and really enjoyed both. (We had the skillet at WCC.) We had great servers at both. It would be hard to compare the two. Both had delicious food and great entertainment. The kids enjoyed the stick pony races, the hokey pokey and all the ketchup hauling at WCC and they enjoyed the parade and the hula lessons at 'Ohana. If I had to pick from the 2, I personally would give the edge to 'Ohana because their bread pudding is my absolute favorite dessert in all of Disney!

Both are very different and we enjoy both. If I could only pick one, I would pick Ohana.

We go to Ohana's every year because the food, atmoshere, and location are excellent. As far as young children's tastes, the Ohana's staff will personally come to your table to figure out what to make for your child (just let them know). The food is served family style (much better than buffet in my opinion). We have brought many family members to this restaurant and everyone loves it! My daughter picked Ohana's for her birthday dinner this year.

We are trying the WCC for the first time in April but would not have given up Ohana's to do it!!

Can I ask what you would say is the perfect time for wishes and O'Hana? or any ideas ?

WCC did it twice (to be fair) didn't like it either time. The food isn't that good. The atmosphere is fun. O'Hana was fun as well. The food was better, but not as good as Kona Cafe. I think we we're ok with most of it except the beef? While it was good it was hard to cut and very chewy..too much fat IMO. I would go with O'Hana over WCC any day, but I would even go further and say..that I'd go for Kona Cafe over O'Hana any day.

Definitely 'Ohana. While Kona's food is outrageously delicious, the atmosphere isn't great, especially for entertaining a young child. 'Ohana will be fine for your little one. You can check the WDW calendar to see what time Wishes will be on the night you are planning on going, and then shoot for an ADR of about an hour before. Even with ADRs, there is sometimes a wait. If you are seated right away, you can take your time eating & enjoy the show. Ask for a table by the window. They turn the lights down & pipe in the music, so it's very nice.
The food at 'Ohana is much, MUCH better than at WCC. My family goes to 'Ohana every time we visit. It is definitely one of our two only must-dos for us.
You may be able to feed your child some of the side dishes that are served family style. Or, as a previous poster said, ask for help from the staff in making the right choices. I'm sure you will be pleased with 'Ohana.

O'hanna's would be our choice. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun. We love WCC, but really just love their breakfast skillet. I just don't like their dinner skillet. The food at these restaurants are really very different. You could eat at both and really not feel like you've eaten at the same restaurant twice.

I agree with others, the food at these places are very different. WCC is a traditional BBQ meal with ribs, pork, baked chicken, and mashed potatoes. Ohana is supposed to be more polynesian with the grilled meats, seasoned noodles, pork dumplings, and things along that line. I doubt that it's really an authentic Polynesian meal though.

Also, we ate at WCC our last trip and thought the skillet at WCC was terrible. We love BBQ but everthing on the skillet was just awful.

We have done both and will never ever do WCC again. It was TERRIBLE! Ohana's is very nice and you can't beat the resort, POLY, its our fave and you can watch wishes from the restaurant or on teh beach.....purely magical!
