I am trying to decide what to do in terms of dinner one of our nights that MK closes early and we aren't staying for the party-
Should we do Ohana at 8:00 or should I hold out for WCC? We have a party of six- 4 adults- (3 of which have never been to WDW) and two little ones- a 4 y.o and 1 y.o. Advice please?!

I am interested in any info and opinions on these two as well. ...

I think you mean Whispering Canyon (WCC), so I will give opinion based on that.

Atmosphere

Whispering Canyon - loud, rowdy. Kids do stick horse racing, wait staff yells at you and does funny things, like bringing my husband a jar that would hold about a 2 liter drink when he asked for a refill on his diet coke. DD(7) enjoyed it, me, not so much, but that is a personal opinion.

Ohana - quieter, calmer pace, but still had the kids come up and dance around the room, do the limbo. DD, DH and I LOVED it!

Food

Whispering Canyon - we got the BBQ skillets and the food was plentiful and good, just not great. Also, our meal took a long time. I kinda felt like I was waiting on my food

Ohana - One of the best places I have eaten at WDW (we are going back in May). Everything we had (the shrimp, the skewered meats of turkey, pork, steak and sausage) was Fabulous! DD almost ate herself sick on the sausage. We had to beg them to stop bringing us food. The dessert was THE BEST dessert I have had at Disney!

Service

Whispering Canyon - As I said, part of the "charm " of the restaurant is the waiters are loud and play tricks.

Ohana - very gracious staff

So, isn't it obvious, my vote would be O'hana, but that depends on what kind of "experience " you want.

Hope this helps!

Thats a hard choice....

I would pick OHANA's though...
The view is awesome.....food real good....nice to watch the little show.

Also you can go to the beach after and watch wishes....or watch it in
restaurant if you are still there.
Something about looking at the castle while you are eating that makes
it extra special.:goodvibes

Whisper Canyon is really good food, but nothing beats Ohana's. IMHO Ohana's has the best food at WDW, hands down. And has held that spot with me for years.

But Whispering Canyon is really cool!!

We have eaten at Ohana twice and going back for our third in May, it is the BEST food ever! I could fill up on that AWESOME shrimp alone!!!!!! I've never tasted shrimp so good!

I would rather have a tooth pulled the eat at WCC. At the end of a long day, I prefer to relax - not be screamed at and have napkins throw at me. The WCC was a very painful experience. Not my cup of tea, but other obviously might like harrassment and the childish antics that provide a "unique experience".

A bit of a different perspective. My sons and I went to 'Ohana and Whispering Canyon during the same trip in 2005, so it has been awhile, but I think still may be relevant.

We celebrated DS's 13th B'day at the Whispering Canyon cafe and had a hoot of a time. We ordered the BBQ Canyon skillet which was good bbq food, lots of it. My sons got the huge mason jars for drinks and loved the milk shakes they had. I ordered a yard of beer in their souvenier mug. The server was fun and we had ordered a cake so extra fuss was made over my DS who was completely embarrassed. The restaurant was very loud. There were tons of kids having a blast with the pony races and such. I do distinctly remember a family of diners next to us with one tired child that seemed miserable the entire dinner and didn't seem to understand the tomfoolery. The father got super annoyed at the server after the 10th bottle of ketchup was placed on their table.:lmao: The restaurant was packed with diners waiting, but we were not rushed. All in all it was a super time.

I love the Poly, so I was looking forward to eating at 'Ohana for a very long time. We arrived and had to wait about 30 mins. In the meantime, I enjoyed some fun and fancy tropical drink in the bar and the boys went shopping. We were seated at a table near a window and then the show started. My boys were not interested in joining but it was fun to watch (a bit loud). The appetizers arrived and were promptly devoured. I loved the salad. I thought the peel and eat shrimp were a bit funky, but my sons didn't mind. We were served more appetizers and salad, but could not get drink refills for a long time. Our server was friendly but sporatic. We were very full by the time we received our skewers. I remember liking the pork tenderloin, but didn't care for the rest of the meat. The boys said it was ok, but again we were full from appetizers. The best part was Wishes started about midway through our meal and the music was playing and we had a great view of the fireworks. We shared dessert which was good. The atmosphere and lighting in the Poly can't be beat. We enjoyed ourselves and had a nice ride on the monorail afterward.

Both restaurants are loud and have fun activities for little kids. I can't rave about the food at either restaurant. We thought it was good, not great, but plentiful and different and enjoyable. Both hotels are beautiful, but I think the Poly edges out WL for me at least. Seeing Wishes from our table was special.

I hope you enjoy whatever place you choose or better yet - do both if you can !:)
