ohana birthday cake question????

I did go through the birthday cake thread and saw one pic of ohanas cakes. I called disney dining and they told me a cake to feed 6 costs 25 which is fine with me. But to put a character edible image it is an additional 30

I just called yesterday and found the same thing. I was told, though, that they would ONLY put the character image on a 10 inch cake which costs $40. I would actually be OK with it if they could put it on the 8 ".

My daughter's absolute favorite is Eyeore, but there are only 4 of us (2 adults and 2 little girls - we will probably even just stick with the smaller 6 inch cake) so they told me that we could bring our own cake topper and hand it to the CM at the podium and they would have our server take care of it for us. Maybe that would work for you??

I am still considering upping it to the 8 inch cake just so that they will write "Happy Birthday ....." on her cake. The 6 inch cakes just have a choc Mickey disc that says "happy bday" on it.

My cake clock is ticking! Any recommendations from fellow Disers???

This is a little OT, but I've noticed the picture in your siggie of the German shop with dolls. Where is that? Since it is OT, you can PM me, or we can start a thread.

Does anyone have the direct number to Ohana? When I called Disney Dining about a small B-day cake there (for 4 people), they said just tell them at the podium when we arrive for dinner. This makes me nervous & I would like to talk to someone at Ohana to confirm this.

Hi, the number to call for bday cakes at Ohana is 407-824-2165. I believe it is Private Dining. They are VERY nice (I have phoned twice) and helpful.

I just went ahead and ordered the 8" chocolate cake today. I just prefer to have their names on it, LOL - a bit more personal & if I find an Eyeore topper it will fit better than on the 6 inch. There is a picture of this 8" one on the bday cake thread on pg 7, post #99. They can do it in vanilla too.

I also have the pic of the 6" cake you just walk up and order at the podium (I was told this, too, by private dining). It is also on the bday cake thread, pg 37, number 545. It isn't the same restaurant, but from the description they gave me on the phone, it's the same. Also in choc or vanilla.

I got a cake at Ohana's on Dec 6 2004 that was 2 tiered and had a white chocalate castle on the top. It was like a small sized wedding cake and would have fed many, although officially I do not remember the actual amount of people it would have fed. It was like 80.00. (Really.)
At the time my family totally could not understand why I would pay so much for a cake. It WAS beautiful. (The service at Ohanas was another matter)
I am wondering if I got a great deal after seeing your prices...
