Ohana Before MVMCP

I'm a newbie when it comes to planning a trip around all of the Christmas activities... I snagged a 5:05 ADR for Ohana on the same day I'm planning to attend MVMCP. (The ADR is only for 2 adults.) Will this be okay? Enough time to eat and then make it over to the party?

The party starts at 7, so you will be fine. We always have a 5 PM cutoff, but I do not use the early entry as part of our night. Now if you were going to get into one of the rare character's lines, I would rethink the timing, but for my family this would work.

It depends on what you're wanting to do at the party. As PP said, if you're going to want to meet some of the more rare characters, you're missing the prime opportunity to get in line, because the lines get longer as the night goes along and you will end up missing a good chunk of party time waiting in line. We liked having FPs from 4-7 too, but if that's not a big deal for you then that's no problem.

Sure, 'Ohana can be crazy and you might not get seated right away, but you should be able to make the start of the party at 7pm. Note that with MVMCP tickets, you can get into the park as early as 4pm. And with party tickets, you can book FP+ for that time between 4-7pm.

If you want to enjoy as much of the party as you can an earlier time would be better. As a previous poster pointed out, you can enter with your party ticket as early as 4 pm. Also keep in mind 'Ohana usually runs behind with their seating. I would think you would get to the party around 7, so that is 3 hours already gone.

I wouldn't. First of all, I have always had a long wait there even with reservations. 40-45 minutes on multiple occasions. Plus, with the cost of party tickets I would want to maximize my time there. You can get in at 4 and I would want to go early rather than late. With a 5:05 reservation, if you have a long wait and dinner takes a while, it could be closer to 8 by the time you get to any of the party activities. I would get quick service or plan a big lunch around 2.

I think you can get to the party by the 7PM start, but I prefer to eat counter service on party night and take full advantage of my hours at the park.

Thanks for all the feedback. It definitely makes sense and seems like it may be too much of a risk to do Ohana before the party.

There are a lot of openings right now for the day and time for around 2pm... I'm considering BOG lunch, Crystal Palace, Kona, LTT, Tony's, the Wave.... What would you pick?

Decisions, decisions! :P

I would pick Kona or BOG :)

If you plan on cancelling your Ohana, can I ask when it is? I am looking for one on Nov 13th!

Ohana may be a bit longer of a dinner but if it is just the two of you, all you have to do is get on the monorail to MK so you may be good. We booked our MVMCP dinner at BOG for 4:30pm, so we don't have to rush and we'll be in the park already. Last year on our mvmcp night, we had a 4:30 adr at 1900 PF and even exploring the GF a bit afterwards, we still made it with plenty of time before the party started. I wouldn't worry too much. Doesn't Ohana start seating for dinner at 5pm? If so, then you should not have long to wait to be seated since you should be one of the first, if you get there before 5 to check-in.

If you want to be in the park. and have the extra ticket, BOG or CP would be my choice. I have had dinner at Kona before a party, and it is nice, but given the choice i prefer to be in the park.

We always eat in the park on our MVMCP nights! We've enjoyed meals twice at LTT and once at CP. We like to have a 4-4:15 ADR so that we are done eating around 5:30 or so. We then have enough time to enjoy some pre-party fun and settle into a great spot in Frontierland for the first parade. We've eaten earlier and a little later but have found this time to work best for us. This is our tradition after spending a few morning hours at a different park and a little relax time at our resort. We always have park hoppers so we are flexible to our ADR time and getting into MK before 4pm if necessary.
If you decide to eat lunch instead I would still pick LTT!

We are eating at Ohana prior to our MVMCP night. We have a 5PM reservation. My plan is to be there early and check in. When we are done eating it is a quick ride on the monorail.
