I have never been to this restaurant. I have read a bit about it but wondered how the ppl here on the board like it. Would you recommend it? How do you rate it? Is it a long meal time wise? Finally I have children age 5 and 2. They are not picky eaters but do not eat a whole lot of meat. Is the selection of food here suitable for small children? Is there a childrens selection or only the foods mentioned in the Birnbaum book? Is the entertainment good and are the characters still only at breakfast?

We like Ohana. We ate there with the dining plan.

You may want to post this question on the Disney Restaurant section. You'll get more responses.

We went in November with our 4 & 6 year old girls. It was one of our favorites! It was so relaxing for us. Every 30 minutes the kids play a game. They had the best time and we sat back and enjoyed! My husband said this is a must do for him for our July trip. If your on the dining plan it is a great value! The kids are able to order other meal items form Kona. Mine I believe had chicken fingers or mac & cheese. You do have to pay the 'Ohana price for the kids meal but if on the meal plan it's not an issue. We loved our food. I can't say enough about how great this meal was for us. Your little ones will have a ball and you enjoy the great food and a chance to unwind.

Thank you so much. Your posts are making me think I will just give this a try. We have eaten at many of the same places on our past several trips and this trip I think we will branch out a bit and try some new places. Who knows we may discover a few new favorites. I have booked the Liberty Tree Tavern and I hope the girls enjoy it as we have not eaten there before and are missing our usual trip to Crystal Palace to try Liberty instead.

Oh my goodness! Ohana is our favorite overall restaurant. We always do the character breakfast at least once on every trip. We enjoy eating there because the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed. Plus the characters are a nice touch ;)! There are no characters at dinner but imho dinner is the best! It is simply wonderful. We ate there in October and we were so full we had to waddle onto the monorail!! We had a wonderful server -Jason- and my husband was picked to be the chef of the day!!

We also love Ohana. We always go to the character breakfast there. In May, we went there for dinner for the first time and absolutely loved it.

I have booked Ohana for our trip. Thanks everyone for the advice and the great recommendations. We will be having dinner there on the 8th of May and then hitting MK or Epcot depending on our mood.

You and the kids will love it!
Enjoy!:)

In my opinion, it is the best restaurant on property. great atmosphere, great food. You will love it. If you've never been there, it's a can't miss!!!

Definitely check out some of the reviews on the restaurant board. That seems to be a really popular stop! Go under the Disney Dining Reviews sub board.

I ate here in 2005,me(16), sister (10), mom and grandparents and each one of us loved it! It is a little pricey but was definately a must do.. The food was amazing and the views were great (magic kingdom). We are planning to go back this summer!

We'll have 2 young children. For those who have gone, do you recommend breakfast or dinner. I understand the characters are there for breakfast but not dinner. Do they do anything special for the kids at dinner?

i have never gone for breakfast
at dinner they have fun games for all of the kids..and it gives the parents a few minutes alone
the food is great for dinner

We went with our 4 & 6 year old girls for dinner. No characters at dinner. They play games every 30 minutes. They have coconut races with a broom, hula hoop and dance the hula. The kids loved it!
We were able to order chicken fingers or mac and cheese for the kids. What ever they have on the Kona menu for the kids you can order. You pay the 'Ohana price for the children still.
It's very relaxing for the parents and the kids have a ball.
The food is fantastic!

My kids (ages 4 and 6) love it there! They don't eat the food that is served -- we order a hot dog or mac-n-cheese with no problem. Also, for dessert they will bring just ice cream for the kids.

If you join (or get in my case) a subscription to TourGuideMike, you'll see there is an additional feature at Ohana's at night. I got a free (pre-paid is a better term IMO) subscription to TGM when I booked my trip thru The Magic For Less.

We love eating at 'Ohana and try to make it there each trip. The characters are only out at breakfast. Our kids love the coconut race during dinner. For kids meals, we were able to pick between chicken fingers and mac and cheese but you could probably get whatever is on the Kona kids meal as well.
