I think we have decided to skip MNSSHP even though we have never been in favour of doing Haunted Nights at Universal. I was already planning on trying to get a reservation one night at Ohana and thought if I book a later time on a party night maybe we could get lucky and see the Halloween fireworks that way?

If this is my strategy what time should I aim for? It will be for either October 30th or 31st whichever I get will work. My plan for the 30th was MK until it closes at 6:00 for the party and the 31st is a free day with the kids wanting to trick or treat in the evening and we could do dinner after that.

You’d better hop on making an ADR!

Try for around 8:45-9:00. Request a window seat when you arrive at the restaurant. Tell them you want to see the fireworks and you’ll wait for a good table.

I can’t try to make a reservation until this Thursday and Friday for those days as we are staying offsite at Bonnet Creek. Last time I was there we had a perfect window seat but we had an early reservation at around 5:00 so long before fireworks.

I was just doing some quick math. LOL!

A later ADR will help get you a table with a view. We had a 8:45 PM ADR in 2016. Asked for table with a fireworks view and had no problem getting it. It looked like most of the dinner crowd had left at that point.

Okay, you need a back up plan if you wish to view Hallowishes from your table, in 'Ohana. You can request a window seat, however they are really not as plentiful as it may seem, so the odds are not in your favor. No matter which restaurant you choose with this in mind also has others with the same purpose, and if they snap up that seat before you, they will camp out until after the show ends. I am not saying you won't have a view, however this is a huge restaurant and the window view is not accessible from much of it. YOu will not be able to leave and come back to your tables as you are able to in Narcoossees and CG.

Personally, I would book in earlier rather than later in the evening if your goal is Hallowishes, and watch from the beach after dinner, or I would go elsewhere.

So would a good plan be to maybe book a 7:00 dinner since we plan to stay in the MK until it closes at 6:00 for the party and then slowly wander over to the restaurant and check in. By the time we get seated and eat we could head over to the beach and watch from there?

Getting a table with a good view might not be guaranteed. you would actually have a better view outside by the pool or the beach - either one pipes in the music. I say this because we had a 6:50 reservation, we were not seated until at least 7:20 (they run behind almost always unless you are there right at opening). The fireworks were at 8:55 and of course we were seated behind the grilling area with no window view. We were wrapping up our meal as the fireworks started and managed to get outside to view the end. So if it were me and fireworks are at 9:00 I would choose a 6:00 reservation, then this allows for getting seated late, not rushing through you meal and you can view from outside. Even if you get done early there are a few shops you can poke around in to waste some time.
