Most places my DH and DS (10) can find something to eat but didn't think about Ohana & their menu until looking at it tonight. I just realized that I should've put something on my adr about them being vegetarian. So, can I just tell them when we check-in for our ressy or do I need to call dining? Also, my son is 10 but would he be able to eat the "kids" menu items? I think I saw things like mac n cheese, etc.---and would he be charged adults price or kids?

Thanks for any clarification you can offer or help with.

I would call Disney dining and confirm about the vegetarian tidbit. We were just there and they give you a salad, steamed broccoli and snow pea pods, lo mein, wings, dumplings, and of course, all that meat.

I am sure they can make something for your vegetarians because I've seen the waiters walk out with special dishes for people. I saw it at Boma too. To be on the safe side though, I would check.

Good luck.

Search for users v_gan and Plasticletters, they've both recently done vegan reviews of 'Ohana. 'Ohana is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for vegetarians. Chef TJ (their main chef) is practically revered as a god, and the chef who works the other night does some amazing stuff also.

ETA: found them.

In my experience, over-the-top special diet meals like those are an exception, not the rule. We'd done gluten-free (some of the group) and vegetarian (some of the group) at 'Ohana on trips before Chef TJ moved over, and got "standard tofu noodle soup bowl" and "gluten-free wings and some of the skewer items with no marinade; anything else was either fine as is or not offered." Fine food, safe to eat, reasonably tasty, but not anything special.

After Chef TJ moved to 'Ohana, and we saw pics of the over-the-top gluten-free meals, we went back for another try. Our vegetarian isn't a tofu-eater, so we just asked for gluten-free (with 3 of the 6 at our table needing it). Plain white rice subbed for noodles, shrimp and wings with no sauce, one or two of the skewer meats were fine as is, salad was fine as is, plain vanilla ice cream for dessert, that was it. Fine food, safe to eat, reasonably tasty, but not anything special.

I would go with the expectation that there will be a decent assortment of food you can eat. I would not go with the expectation that you will get any or all of what other people have posted pictures of, and there's a chance you'll be pleasantly surprised.
