I would like to surprise my family by being in one of the Disney afternoon parades. Is there any special person that we have to call to set this up. Is there a price that you have to pay? If anyone knows please let me know!!!

Thanks!

I asked this question of Disney last year. They informed me that they do not predetermine the guests in the parade. Instead, CMs randomly pick-out people, I think in the morning time. I recall reading that they look for families without young children (no strollers) and those that are energetic or dressed up in Disney.

Good luck!

P.S. See you at the World this weekend!!!

Has anyone ever been in the parade that wasn't the classic "family" (ie: mom, dad, 2 or 3 children)??? Just curious... I mean like say it was mom & 3 children -no daddy that time.
?? Anyone? Anyone? Give us hope. LOL

Bibbidy--Some years ago I woke up sick and wasn't able to go to MK with my DH and 3 DD's. They came back to the room hours later just thrilled with the news that they'd been picked as the family for the afternoon parade--they were a substitute for a family that didn't show up but they were in the parade nonetheless!! I wish I could say that I reacted with good grace--but frankly I was sooooo disappointed that I missed the opportunity to be in the parade and didn't even get to see them. This is one of my biggest Disney disappointments--but at least it indicates that sometimes they must pick unconventional families. Now our youngest DD is a WDW CM and is in that parade all the time--the 'lucky duck.'

Isn't it exciting!!!!

Watching the counter count down instead of getting some much needed sleep.

I actually went upstairs with DH and as soon as he fell asleep, ran back down to get on the computer!!! I can't wait!

I just went and took a shower. Logged off the Internet and everything and came back and sat at the computer like this was where I was meant to be.

We're hopeless cases, aren't we? :sad2:

3 years ago my boyfriend(38) and I(30) were in the afternoon parade at MK. It was just the two of us, no kids. We were the Grand Marshells and got to ride in Walt Disneys 1904 Ford at the front of the parade. It was the coolest thing I have ever done :cool1: The next year when we went back to MK we saw the same gentlemen who put us in the parade, we walked over to thank him for last year and he would of put us in the parade again but we said no.

If you want to be in the parade you need to be on Mainstreet before the park officially opens. Make a breakfast reservation at on of the character breakfasts in MK about half an hour before the official opening time. When you are walking up main street look for Disney castmembers in suits and ties. They are pretty easy to spot. Go up to them and talk to them, we were pin trading with them when they picked us. The cast members name was Dean, he was about 50 years old and he had been putting people in the parades for years. He was at the far end of main street near the Crystal Palace restaraunt both years we ran into him. They seem to pick the parade people either right before the gates officially open or with in the first few minutes of opening.
So yes it is possible to be in the parade with out kids
Good Luck :earboy2:

All parade families are chosen completely at random, unless there is a compelling reason why a certain family should ride -- Make a Wish kids, celebrity in town, etc. No person to call, no price to pay -- it's truly being in the right place at the right time.

FYI -- no children under the age of 4 can ride in the parades. So if your party includes infants or toddlers, you won't be chosen.
