Oh, Snap!A Recession!Going anyway...May 09! **5/19-TR LINK!!!

Disney Planning News:
I've made a master spreadsheet (workbook, actually) with travel itinerary, park day crowd forecasts, touring/eating plans, packing list, etc. It's beee-uuu-tiful, if I do say so myself! Putting everything down spreadsheet form makes me SO happy! I'll be even happier once May hours are released & I can fill in the ADR confirmation #'s! :rotfl:

Non-Disney news:
SP has to go in for oral surgery tomorrow. She has to get all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out. Ouch! I hope it goes well & she's one of those "oh, it wasn't bad at all" cases I hear every now & then amongst all the horror stories of dry socket, bruised faces, etc. etc. :scared:

She's a self admitted wimp when it comes to pain, so I sure hope it's not too bad for her. My pain tolerance is set really high, so I can't imagine how a low tolerance handles it. She's a trooper, though. I'm sure she'll be fine.

She's going the IV route, so she won't remember anything. She said she wanted me to go in with her. I told her they don't allow that. She was upset, until I told her that after she takes her "woo-woo" pill before we leave in the morning, she won't know I was even there, much less if I was in the room with her! :rotfl2:

The best thing you can do for someone getting their wisdom teeth out is this:

Use ice packs, propped up on pillows, for 20 minutes.
Then nothing for 20 minutes.
Then heat for 20 minutes.
Then nothing for 20 minutes.
Begin with ice packs again and repeat repeat repeat until you can't stand it any more.

Generally when you go under, it takes a while to be fully awake. You have to be a certain amount of awake and functioning for them to release you, but generally, you are so groggy that once you are home, you get comfortable and sleep some more. So the patient generally doesn't know what you are doing to them as they are sleeping.

My mother did this for me. I did this for my DH. Both of us had hardly any swelling. I highly recommend.:thumbsup2

I loved your last trip report. I hope you all have a wonderful trip this time.

Make sure to pick up some Frosty's on the way home from the surgery. That's what I lived on for two or three days. Hopefully she'll wind up having an easy time. I went to a hockey game the day after my surgery.

Thanks SO much for the advice! I will do this for DD. She's most worried about facial swelling & bruising, so this will really help. :thanks:

I'm off to the store now to stock up on soft foods...Ice cream, jello, mashed potatoes...yummy. I'm going to pick up an ice pack thingy...I can't think of the name of these things - waterproof fabric bag with a wide mouth & screw on lid you can put ice or hot water in - a hot water bottle, sorta. Oh, well, you know what I mean!

Ooooh, Frosty's! I LOVE those! I might just have to commisserate with SP & have one, too. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I'm glad you enjoyed the last TR! We had A LOT of fun! I got super busy & didn't get the last 2 days written before the thread was closed! Ah, well. It was just our last Disney night & the trip back home. But there were some cool pics! I'll have to find an excuse to put them in here.:upsidedow

Ouch! I haven't had my wisdom teeth out... I'm secretly kind of hoping I'll never need to.:scared: I'll be sending good teeth thoughts your DDs way!!

I wish I could make some sort of spreadsheet but... I have absolutely no clue how to even manage that. Also, I'm supposed to be trying to be more relaxed this trip... and I don't think my DM would appreciate a super organized spreadsheet as part of my efforts.:rotfl:

My best advise is instead of using gauze use the regular size tea bags. THey taste MUCH better than the gauze, and I found the gauze stuck to my gums really bad. Plus when you swallow you taste tea instead of blood :crazy2: YUCK!!!

Thanks for the good teeth thoughts! DD is home & doing well. She's a bit squirrelly (keeps insisting I ran over a circus tent on the way home!!:rotfl2: ), but otherwise fine. Hopefully she'll continue to mend quickly.

I LOVE spreadsheets! But they're not for everyone. They're not necessary for a wonderful trip, either! I just like having all my info in a neat, organized structure. Once we're there I don't become a slave to them, but they're handy in case my age catches up to me & I forget something!:p

Thanks for the tip! She's doing fine with the gauze right now. In fact, she kept saying her tongue is stuck all the way home (real sad & whiny like), when I investigated, what she was feeling was the gauze!:lmao: I might try the tea bag suggestion later if she complains.

Oh, I'm glad your daughter is doing well!:grouphug:

Usually I do cue cards for every day, but I'm putting them to rest for this trip. I'm already a little worried about it!!:rotfl:

Ok, well I'm back on track after a looong week with DD getting over her surgery. It has been a long row to hoe for her, but she actually ate something yesterday & again today! :cool1:

She got up for the first time in a week to go for her post op appointment on Thursday & has been finally making some progress away from the pain ever since. Yesterday she woke me up saying she wanted some doughnuts so bad! So we drove to Krispy Kreme & got 2 dozen!:rotfl2: It sounds bad, but it was buy 1, get 1 free. :upsidedow She has eaten quite a few of them. :rotfl: The rest of us have enjoyed a few as well. :hyper:

We spent some time clothes shopping, 'cause, you know, nothing makes you feel better than a little retail therapy!:rotfl: I bought DD a new pair of bright pink capris, a pair of white jeans, and a set of PJs with Marie (Aristocats) on them (with the justification that they're really for Disney World, even though she wore them last night!). Then we went to Payless & I got her 3 new pairs of shoes! They were all on sale 30-50% off. :cheer2:

We then headed to Wal Mart & got some supplies for pedicures. That's what we're doing tonight! I've got my feet in a foot soak bath (cutest little blow-up bath!) as I type this. We picked out the cutest shade of nail polish - Peony Pink. It's so Spring-y! The weather has turned a little colder tonight, but Spring is just around the corner for us here in the Deep South. ::yes::

Ok, on to Disney news! WDWinfo.com had the May hours listed, so even though they aren't exactly "official" yet with the parades & fireworks schedule, I was able to make some decisions on our schedule. It looks like the only thing we're going to be doing differently than the earlier version is going to MK on the day of arrival (to be sure to see Wishes). Everything else remains pretty much the same.

I have been thinking of having a special something for DD when we get there. Or maybe ordering a cake or something for our 1900 Park Fare dinner (that I can make ADRs for on Tuesday - finally!). I've heard of the Cinderella slipper dessert & that looks cute. Cindy is DD's favorite character. I was also contemplating surprising her with a spa trip to the GF spa one day. I still have to research & see what they offer, prices, when I have to make the appointment, etc. Anyone ever go to the GF spa?

Any other good ideas for treating my "no so little" princess while at WDW? I'd appreciate any ideas.::yes::

We're getting so excited! May can't get here fast enough!

Yay, an update!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Have you thought about doing the tea at the GF? My mom and I do it every trip and have so much fun. It is really lovely and YUMMY!! Plus it's something special but it isn't too expensive. :goodvibes

Glad to hear your daughter is feeling better! You sound like a great mom spoiling her!:thumbsup2

DH proposed at CRT and it came with the slipper desert and it as out of this world wonderfully delicious!!!!

Great ideas! I'm glad to hear the Cinderella slipper is tasty as well as pretty! I'll be sure to include that in our 1900 Park Fare dinner. I have seen some pictures, but just wasn't sure what it tasted like. Thanks!:thumbsup2

And I can't believe I didn't think of the GF tea! We'd talked about going before, but just never found the time to resort hop before. Now, since we'll be right at the Poly, this will not be an issue! :cool1: I collect tea ware & we both LOVE tea! I must have 20+ varieties at home right now. I drink it daily. And who doesn't love the lovely little tasty treats you get with an afternoon tea? Scones = Yum!

A real tea at the GF would be so fun! Do you know if you have to reserve a spot in advance, or can you just wing it?

I like your report! I am a planner as well, it's a gift and a curse. :lmao:

I hope you like the Poly!! I would love to stay there someday. My goal is to stay at each hotel at least once, and that is definately on the top of the list. I have a hard time sometimes spending more $$ on the room but you have to look at the amenities too, I realize. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more!

I would definitely grab an ADR for the tea. We usually go around 3 and it's always been full (although we have always gone during busy times of year). If you're up to a walk, the walk between the GF and the Poly is so beautiful and relaxing.:goodvibes The chamomile tea there is soooo good and my mom loves the English Breakfast.:thumbsup2

:welcome: to my Pre-Trippie!

That's a great goal you have there!:thumbsup2 I still want to experience The Wilderness Lodge, Caribbean Beach Resort and Pop Century. I know what you mean about the $$ for deluxe. The only way we're able to stay at the Poly is b/c of the 4/3 deal - Woo Hoo!:cool1:

We'll definitely have to try for the tea. Looking at our schedule, I'm just not sure which day it would fit in yet. I think we'll try to wing it & get last minute ADRs for this one. It does look yummy!

So, I was home with a nasty stomach virus yesterday & didn't get to call in for our ADRs. I was a bit worried I might not get the date/times I wanted, but guess what? No worries!

Now if only the schedule for Wishes & Spectro would be official, I could relax about our schedule!

Yay!:cheer2: You have a schedule!

I am just waiting for June hours. Sounds like you are going to have so much fun!

Okey, dokey. After being home sick with the flu (Blech!) I'm back to work, a computer with fast speeds (home is dial up :headache: ), and the DISboards!

After some research & discussion, SP & I decided we wanted to change the Fulton's Crab House ADR to Captain Jack's. We tried to do a walk in there last year, but no luck. We looked over the Fulton's dinner menu, and discovered that we'd eaten lunch there, not dinner. Once we saw the prices :scared: and the menu selections (meh) we decided to try for another seafood place instead.

I still have to make the call, but I'm pretty sure we can do it.

We also talked about the water park. I have to be uber careful about sun exposure:beach: & can't do the slides & SP doesn't want to ride the slides, etc. on her own so we'd only be doing the snorkel & lazy river sections. For $80 (1 day ticket) or $100 (WP&M add on) it just doesn't seem to be the best deal for us.

So, our schedule changes are below:

Friday, May 1, 2009
Animal Kingdom - til 2:30 p.m.
DTD p.m.
Captain Jack's (Dinner) - need to call & get ADR

Saturday, May 2, 2009
Disney Hollywood Studios a.m.
Back to Poly for swimming, touring the resort, relaxation

I think this looks like a good plan. Since the next day will be a big one, I think some rest on Saturday sounds like a great plan.:upsidedow
