Yesterday late afternoon I had a brillant idea that we could take a quick get-away before the end summer (8/13 - 8/17), which seems to have slipped through our fingers. Checked the Southwest rates and could fly for less than $200.00 with only a few seats left. Called MS to check on room availability shortly before 5:00pm and they said they had a few 1-bedrooms available at SSR. At this point I had not made my flight reservations, so I thought I would call back on Saturday right at 1pm when MS opened. Reserved my flights, called MS at 1pm and bad news they only have a room for the middle of my stay (8/14 and 8/15). I'm waitlisted for the 13th and 16th.

I am usually not this impulsive and now have visions of not having anywhere to stay when we arrive at 11pm on the 13th. Yikes!

Anyone with suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Are there any studios available for the days that you need a room? I'm new to DVC but is it possible to 'take" a studio but waitlist and switch to a 1 bedroom if it becomes available. I know that the studio is smaller but it's still a room none the less.

Yes, I checked for a studio. It sounds stupid to get a 1 bedroom for the just the two of us but when my DS needs space to have a "teen moment", I find it best to just let her watch the Disney Channel and let her get over it. We have the points and never enough time to actually use them. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just an idea, but ask them to waitlist you for any of the other resorts for the entire four nights. I know that I made an assumption that none of the smaller resorts (VWL or BCV) would have anything, but a few days from my arrival, I learned that those resorts actually had a room available, although SSr or OKW did not. Good luck!

Great idea! I will on the phone to MS first thing tomorrow morning to check that out. I'm starting to feel better already.

Another thought. Since you arrive at 11 PM the first night, what about Pricelining a room at the airport.

That just leaves you the last night to deal with.

:thumbsup2 What an even better idea. I was going to suggest a value resort but your idea is even better.

The Priceline idea is great but was hoping to use the Dining Plan and Magical Express so maybe a value or mod. for the first night would be a great idea. I should also check to see if I can use points at a mod. resort instead because it would be cheaper than a 1 bedroom, just less space.

Thank you for all the great suggestions.

I had the WLV open up halfway through my trip one December before I owned there. I switched from SSR to WLV halfway throught my trip after calling MS morning, noon, and night while roaming the parks. The last day of my trip was not yet available at the WLV but I took a chance and the it opened up a day or two after I moved. So what I am trying to say is don't be too discourage even if you are getting on the plane and the 16th hasn't come through yet. :wizard: (Pixie Dust) Good Luck.

Yipee! MS came through. When I called this morning, my waitlist for the 16th had been matched. They also were able to get me a studio for the 13th at SSR with a waitlist for a 1-bedroom. Even if we have to change rooms, at least it is at the same resort. I love MS!

Thanks to everyone for their great suggestions.
