I just saw on the weather channel that Buffalo is going to get hit by snow, We are due to leave home (Hamilton) at 11:30 on Tuesday and then go to the hotel and fly out Wednesday AM, weather.com says this
Now here is some thoughts, please given me your opinions!
1) We can leave at about 12:30 or 1 on Monday and then spend an extra night in Buffalo (they have room I just checked) so that we don't have to arrive in the thick of the storm it will cost about $130 more but it would be ok, we can do it
2) See if SWA can fly us out ahead of the storm say the PM N/S flight either the 4th of the 5th, my parents are meeting us down there and we can crash at their condo for the night(s) for free if need be, would SWA charge us for this or because of the storm are they accommodating??
3) Tough it out and wait it out but GET SNOW TIRES lol
I am really trying to make the best of this, these things happen but I just need a plan what to do!
HELP PLEASE!
NORTHERN ERIE-GENESEE-WYOMING-SOUTHERN ERIE- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF... BUFFALO...BATAVIA...WARSAW... ORCHARD PARK...SPRINGVILLE 1037 PM EST SUN DEC 3 2006
...SIGNIFICANT LAKE EFFECT SNOW POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY...
THE FIRST EXTENDED COLD PERIOD OF THE WINTER SEASON WILL BRING WITH IT THE THREAT OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW FROM TIME TO TIME THIS WEEK. MOST OF THE ACTIVITY WILL BE SCATTERED AND INTERMITTENT ENOUGH TO LIMIT ANY APPRECIABLE ACCUMULATIONS...BUT THERE WILL BE A PERIOD FROM LATER MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY WHICH MAY BE OF MORE CONCERN.
A WESTERLY FLOW OF COLD AIR WILL DEEPEN MONDAY AND SET UP A BAND LAKE EFFECT SNOW ACROSS SOUTHERN ERIE AND WYOMING COUNTIES. WINDS WILL BACK MORE SOUTHWESTERLY LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND PUSH THIS BAND NORTH INTO CENTRAL ERIE AND GENESEE COUNTIES...PERHAPS AS FAR NORTH AS BUFFALO AND BATAVIA TOWARD DAYBREAK TUESDAY.
THERE IS CONFLICTING MODEL GUIDANCE AS TO THE WIND DIRECTION ON TUESDAY. IF THE WINDS REMAIN MORE SOUTHWESTERLY... THE STEADIER LAKE SNOWS COULD AFFECT AREAS FROM BUFFALO TO THE SOUTH TOWNS AND EAST INTO GENESEE AND WYOMING COUNTIES...BUT THERE IS AT LEAST A LOW RISK OF SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE TUESDAY MORNING COMMUTE.
YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS EVOLVING SCENARIO AND ISSUE STATEMENTS AS NECESSARY.
