I am so worried about the weather... We are going March 16-21st.We have 3 kids 8,4 and 2. I am so sad for the weather forecast. Hoping it doesn't ruin our trip.... This is a redo trip from 2 years ago and that entire trip was spent in our hotel room with everyone sick with the worst stomach virus ever. I am feeling a little down about this....

I wouldn't worry too much just yet. In my 3 trip experience, the weather forecast changes all the time, right up to the last minute.

However, if it does rain, it's not as bad as you may think. I caught a VERY rainy day (downpour, huge puddles, wet up to your knees type rain) on my November 2011 trip. It was the most fun day of the whole visit. A lot of people left when it started, so lines were very short. We walked onto pretty much everything, got a great view of WoC, didn't have to wait for food, etc. Just roll up your pants, grab a poncho/umbrella, and enjoy it!

It is a forecast thats it. Weather changes constantly and it will only ruin your trip if you let it. When the weather gets crappy the locals stay away and many things get easier to do.
I will trade you, you work for me, I will take the trip for you. Good luck,

Jack

HAHAHA! Funny, Jack! You are right. No thanks I will pass on working for you;)
I am thankful to go and excited. I wouldn't care so much if it was us adults...just worried about doing the parks with a 2 year old in rain. It is a first. We are very excited especially since our last trip was a nightmare with all 5 of us so sick. Hoping for a weatehr change if not we will figure it out...just not excited about rain. :)

This. After going to DLR so much, I'd say that above anything else (regardless of season), a rainy day = a less crowded day at DLR. I've been on several rainy days and it's those days where you can ride Toy Story 3x in a row-- waiting like 15 min for each ride...or show up to WoC without a FP...or ride Splash Mountain multiple times without getting off. Be prepared for the rain...because most people won't be. :thumbsup2

Kids normally don't care about the rain like adults do. Buy him/her a Mickey poncho and pack some extra socks. :). I wish it would rain on our trips! But then again, I'm from Seattle. :). Hope you can all stay healthy and HAVE FUN!

I agree with everyone else on both counts - first, don't fret about the weather forecast too much - they change frequently. We were there last weekend and a few days before they were forecasting 70s - on Sunday it was close to 90.

If it is rainy, yes, it's a bummer because it's so fun to enjoy the CA sunshine, but the PPs are right - your kids will have a blast splashing through puddles, and you will have really short wait times for whatever you want to do. Just bring ponchos and dry clothes and you can still have a great time!

Good luck!

I plan on grabbing ponchos from the Dollar Tree and being prepared just in case. And they'll come in handy for Grizzly!

Plus, coming from Oregon even if it rains down there it will be a warm rain in comparison ;-)

When there is "rain" in DLR the crowds usually disperse! Trust me on this one! On one of our first trips we had a bit of a down pour ;)and we had the park pretty much to ourselves! :thumbsup2We rode Indie 5 times in a row because we walked out of the exit and there was NO LINEUP to get back on! It was wonderful!

Don't let the forecast dampen your spirits:love:

It is DLRpixiedust:

The magic is super and I hope it doesn't rain so much that you and your family get drenched...you could always pick up the $1 rain jackets from DLR!

Have a great and magical trip:flower3:

I am no expert on California weather, but in AZ, a rainy-day forecast means a nice, cloudy day with a 15-minute shower in the morning and another in the evening (or it could mean a massive dust storm and just enough sprinkles to put mud on your car, but you won't have to worry about that in Anaheim). No worries! :thumbsup2

Don't worry. When we went in October 2 years ago it rained on Monday. Although our feet were wet it was a great time. There were no lines at all. We used ponchos and had a blast. Rain can be a good thing!

Last year during our spring break trip we had a similar forecast and honestly we wound up loving it.

It was never cold, staying mostly in the mid 60s and we were prepared with hooded rain jackets that allowed us to do what we wanted. As a result of the rain the crowds were low and the lines super short. The biggest thing was, as a family, we just said this is not going to ruin our trip and it did not.

Good luck!

We were there for 3 days at the end of January. Up to about a week before we left, there was rain in the forecast. I was not thrilled about it either (wasn't looking forward to packing, and using, raingear for 3 kids...). But about 5 days (I think?) before we left, the rain disappeared from the forecast. :cool1:

It was sunny and warm all 3 days that we were in the parks. Totally dry. Warm enough for Splash Mountain, even.

Mid March is not usually a "heavy rain" time for SoCal. It's usually February if it's going to happen at all. Look at the detailed forecast for each day (the hourly?) and it will give you a better idea of how much rain is expected. A "shower" can literally mean 15 minutes of light rain before the sun pops back out and dries it all up in 10.

Here's hoping your trip is dry! (I've been there once in a true downpour, 20 years ago, and while it was fun for hubby and I to run around from ride to ride because of no lines...personally, I have NO desire whatsoever to deal with wet kids in the parks. Heavy rain + kids = lots of extra work for me....and I just want to mentally relax at Disneyland).

Dude, rain days are awesome, assuming you like rain. 90% of the rides are indoors, low crowds, short lines.

But a warm rainy day in California sounds dreamy to me. Rain, in my neck of the woods, almost always turns to snow.
