Say it isn't so - a major storm hitting the East Coast right when we are scheduled to leave for Disney!

We were supposed to leave on Tuesday, March 1st - but with that ugly storm coming I called Delta this morning and they switched our flight to tomorrow morning a no extra charge (Thanks Delta!).

So now we have two extra days in our favorite town - we have been packing like mad all day today and I have been busy on the internet getting us a hotel room for two days before we head to POR and extending the rental car. We ended up at the Wyndham Palace Resort thru Hotwire - got an okay deal and we're not complaining.

Our last trip was in September 2004 and we had to move our flight up that time too to account for Hurricane Jeanne - we flew in the day before and rode the storm out at CBR.

Hope everyone else avoids the storm this time around and safe travels to everyone.

Good to know Delta came through for you. Have a safe and wonderful trip. I remember the days of those Nor'Easters!!!

The weather reports are looking better for your area, at least right now. My husband lives in NYC during the week and he said they are expecting an all rain event. Never can tell what will really happen. Have fun in Disney! Threehearts

Last time that happened to me (2 years ago), I flew out in a blizzard, flew back to NH in sub-zero temperature, put my house on the market, and was a Florida resident by June.

The latest weather report say it *looks* like rain instead of snow. But, we'll see! ;)

I'm hoping for rain...

had enough of this white stuff

although heavy rain is not great either..tough to get out of ewr

I swear they have delays even if they smell rain coming

have wonderful trip

I live about 2 hrs north of FL and just wanted to tell you to be prepared for rain, rain, and more rain. It has been raining here for 3 days now. It's also supposed to get cold in the next couple of days-possible freezing.
Maybe Orlando is having better weather.

Hooked, so glad they switched your flight, winter travel can be sketchy. However, I live and surf in Jersey, I love Nor'Easter's. Have fun in the DW.

See, the airlines don't get it - publicity like this is priceless! Your story alone is making me want to go through Delta for our next trip, after a nightmare experience with Northwest the other day.

So glad you're going to get extra days too - have lots of fun!

Hooked, Great move on your part. We'll ride this nor'ester out with the rest of VT. No rain for us, only the white stuff :crazy2: We're scheduled to fly out the following Tuesday so hopefully Mother Nature gets it out of her system by then and brings us good weather...We're staying at POR so keep the :sunny: shining for us. Have fun :earsgirl:

I agree. I have my plans for our flight at Easter, but am looking for flights for July. Now I'm going to give Delta a call. Thanks. :flower:

Boy, have you on the eastcoast had a horrible winter. Us poor MN people haven't had an 1/8th of the snow you have had. That was great that you got your flight switched.

If you eat at the resturant at the Wyndam (I think it is called Arthur's 27 or something like that)will you let me know if it is still exceptional food. We ate there several years ago and the food was outstanding, as well as the fact that you can watch the Epcot Fireworks while eating. I want to know if it is worth eating there when we go to Disney.

Two years ago, we had a Disney cruise booked for end Feb, beginning of March. Leaving Ohio to Florida, via Amtrak. Big, really big snow storm came in. Were we worried, meeting our daughter, who at that time was a CM for the first cruise ever. Didn't think we would make it down. Somehow by the time we were to leave, railways were opened and you should have seen the snow on the way to Philly, snow inside Philly station was unbelievable and on down. The view from the train was spectular and once we hit Georgia, the snow was gone, sun was out and hitting Florida, it was like a different country. Downside was coming home, in reverse of going after the cruise and 5 days at WDW!

Good for you! We are in NW Jersey and our weather is saying 85% chance of snow tomorrow into Tuesday with 6 + inches expected :cold: So I say better safe than sorry. Have a wonderful trip and use those extra days to relax and prepare! Way to go Delta!!

Have a great trip and enjoy the extra days.
We are forty miles west of PHL. not looking forward to the foot or so of snow we are getting. We leave for Disney March 6. Wish we were leaving a bit earlier.

As usual here in MD not sure how much we will get. Predictions are from 4" to more than 10". Weather man will know more once it starts. Glad someone was able to get out of this mess.

We're getting smoked tonite. Hopefully it will hold out until after 2:50 in Boston.
