Of course this happens to me... I get married on Saturday. THIS SATURDAY!!! (Disneymoon on the 9th) And, I have completely lost my voice.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how I can get it back?

I got a cold on Friday, lost my voice on Sunday and it is still gone??? :confused3 :sad2:

Don't talk, AT ALL. Drink two TSP honey every few hours and some chamomile tea with lemon. Also, cayenne pepper will get your voice back in no time. Just pour some into the tea or into water. You won't taste it. Drink a glass in the morning and a glass in the evening. You should be okay for Saturday. Try to keep your stress level down if at all possible because bodies react differently to stress, this could be your body's way of coping. Get yourself some ecchinacea!

Well, here's what happened... I had a crazy Thursday!!! :sad2:

I went to the doctor during the day (left work for an hour) and got a prescription for my throat. I go to this doctor all of the time... about 6 times in the last 6 months... and I figured she knew me pretty well, had all important informaiton on file.

Anyway, I brought my prescription to the pharmacist and it turns out that my doctor prescribed me penecillin which I am deathly allergic to. Good thing the pharmacist caught it!!! :cheer2:

So, my doctor was closed by this time and I had manicures, pedicures and waxing appointments to go to so I did all that and went to an after-hours/emerg. clinic. The doctor there could not believe the prescription I had gotten. I ended up being out all night and taking Friday off sick because of all the havok.

The antibiotics have made me quite ill in the mornings... and I have a bad taste in my mouth that won't go away... but, my wedding went off wonderfully!!!

I am now a wife. A really happy one, and my voice came back enough to get through the vows and be somewhat entertaining ;)

Now, just to get through enough of these antibiotics before the majority of my Disneymoon!!! :wizard: :goodvibes Thanks for all the well wishes and advice... all the tea certainly aleviated tons of pain. :grouphug:

:cheer2: I'm SO GLAD your special day went well!!

I cannot believe your doctor prescribed you penicillin when you're allergic to it! That could have been awful!!!

Oh no thats horrible
try not to talk and drink some hot herbal tea... That has helped me in the past.. Hope you feel better...

Kinda off topic, but my wife loses her voice almost EVERY other trip to WDW. We dont know why. But its like clockwork. By the time we drive up onto the resort property its completely gone. It happens about 1/2 of the trips, and we go about 4 times a year from NC. Its stays gone for almost the whole trip. by the last day shes squeeking a little. We asked the doctor about it once. He suggested wearing one of those little white yardwork masks on the trip down. Who knows?
Shes young and healthy. It dont make sence.

I used to lose mine kind of often. Dr. said it could be related to allergies or colds because of post nasal drip, not always because of overuse --- stuff dripping on the vocal chords. That makes sense with the mask idea.

I sing so I only really worry about it when I have a big solo coming up! I am a teacher and the funniest time was when I was really sick but couldn't take off because we had a state visit. I had no voice at all and a class of 30 inner city second graders. I had to ring my bell and mouth the directions to them. They were very well behaved!

I ve lost my voice to :furious: , woke up yesterday morning & could barely utter a word. Its a nightmare :sad2: , im a makeup artist & have been still going in to work which probably hasn't helped. Am having to mouth to customers answers & am having to really strain my voice to try to reply (think some people like to see others suffer).Have been told by a pharmacist to rest my voice as much as i can which at the moment im doing a lousy job of :sad2: . I ve had loads of hot drinks, gargoled, taken special throat medication & so far no change. Am hoping this is a short term thing as its proving to be impossible to do my job. Hang on in there girl, im sure your voice will be making its way back very soon :thumbsup2 .
