Oh No I May Have To Cancel My Trip!!!

We are scheduled to go May 1st to the 9th, However 3 out of my 4 kids have gotten a bed case of the flu and are out of school for at least 5 days. (2nd grader/4th grader and pre k). I dont know if after missing this week if it is a good idea to take them out of school for a week in May. I was so excited to go as where the kids, but know I am torn!!!!!ANY ADVISE

Oh no, I'm so sorry!!!! Secretly I like to take DD out of school earlier in the year, so we can try like heck not to miss beforehand, then whatever happens after our trip, happens. That's awful, I know. I would have a really hard time with your decision as well. I guess the first step would be to find out how much school the older kids are allowed to miss technically, if you haven't already, then go from there. Any chance of rescheduling when they get out of school (even though I know you probably planned your trip to avoid summer crowds and possibly slightly cooler weather).

THe problem is that I start promotional school in April and goes all the way until Oct. so would not be able to any other time, and Im not a big fan of being there during major holiday due to the crowds. Well I only have until tomorrow to decide, since that is our due date for payment. Hopefully it will work out

Dont cancel ur trip u will all be soooo gutted and upset which will probably cause more illness!

I am sorry to hear that your family is ill. I will admit that I would still probably pull my kids out of school so long as it was possible. Can you try to get the work ahead of time and pull some weekends as a family to get your children caught up? I don't know what your school district is like, but I know that ours is pretty flexible if you are willing to work with your children. I hope that it all works out for you!

I would still pull them out. Here, as long as you have a doctor's note, they count it as an excused absence. (Might look into that with your school) Then my kids get 5 excused days for pre-planned vacations. Of course, if it's during special testing times, it might get dissapproved. I would agree with the other PPs that you should be able to get their work ahead of time so they can stay up on the work part of school.....I always get reminded of the policy and my oldest is only in 2nd grade! I say GO and have fun!!

Thanks Everyone!!! Well we decided we are going on our trip ..I figured if we cancel now everyojne would be bummed out, since it is the only time we can make it this year. WE just paid in full as today was the last day to pay. The kids are starting to fell better and at least my oldest DD wasnt sick and didnt miss any school. So 42 days until we start our drive to DISNEY
