I am having the worst luck this week. First I got food poisoning, finally felt better from that. Then I woke up yesterday with a sore throat. Was hoping it was just allergies, but no it's a cold.

We leave at 4 am tomorrow, no time to get over it. I've planned this trip for a year however and refuse to let this ruin it. Anyone else ever go to DL with a cold, any tips on what you did?

I LOVE going in October, but this is usually a down fall for going during this time of year. Too many germs going around!

Awww...sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. :( I've never been to DL with a cold. If I have a cold I drink juice, chicken soup and take some echinacea. I hope you feel better! :grouphug:

First bit of advice, get off the computer and get in bed! Or lay on the couch, whichever.

Second, if its a sore throat hook up with some sprite, that drink does wonders for sore throats. Drink sprite, eat some soup, REST, do not get out of bed or up off the couch for nothing. Take some tylenol and nap all day. And hope for the best, thats about all you can do.

I always travel with Emergen-C and Airborne. Start taking lots of Vitamin C and pack cold medicine. At least it will help you feel better while recovering. Hope you recover quickly and have a great time!

Cold FX works for me! The first time we went to Disneyland (last April) I blew my nose every 10 minutes for 5 days straight. The plane ride was a killer on the sinuses! I was taking cold medicine, but it didn't seem to be working. Since then I have discovered Cold FX and it has worked like a charm at the first sign of a cold. We're leaving for Disneyland in 33 days and I will be packing it in my suitcase just in case.

I SECOND the Zycam. The sooner you take it the better. So go get some NOW!!!!:scared:

Thanks everyone. I stayed in bed a good portion of the day, except for some packing. Taking my cold meds and vitamin C. Tomorrow will be day 3 of the cold, and even though we plan on going in the park part of the day after arrive, I really need to be feeling hopefully somewhat better by Wednesday. That will be day 4. I think that's possible, fingers crossed!

My Mom, who is going with us wanted me to consider rescheduling. But no way, we've got a great rate for GCH, AND I have reservations at Club 33 on Thursday. So I'm going to drag myself regardless. LOL

Gargling with warm salt water always seems to help me. Some people recommend whiskey, though:rolleyes1

Seriously, though, if you can get to a health food store, I swear by colloidal silver. It usually comes with a dropper or a spray. It's great for boosting your immune system. I have also used a couple dropperfuls of that to gargle with when I get a sore throat. The brand I have is Sovereign Silver, but there's many out there, so get whatever you can. I give it to my kids too at the first sign of a cold and it never materializes into something more major.

Whatever you do, do not drink Sprite as was recommended here (sorry!) but that is just sugar and sugar is an immune system suppressant. You want to do everything you can to boost your immunity and get your body fighting off those bugs!

Good luck! Hope you're all better soon!!!

I usually take a hydrocodone cough syrup. It helps with head pain and suppresses your cough.

If your nose is stuffed up, take Afrin. I couldn't live without that stuff. I cannot sleep if my nose is congested, so it is a real life-saver. I plan on packing some just in case.

I'll second the Afrin for your worst 3 days. I also take peppermint disc to sooth the throat. I've had many trips to DL with bronchitis, just take things slow and easy.

Now if only I can get my broken elbow and sprained foot healed in 3 weeks will have a good trip too.

Sad to see that I'm not the only one with such luck and trips to DL! Slow and easy is the game plan. I'm sure hoping that after tomorrow (day 3) things will let up a bit. At least some of the congestion and this "lala land" feeling.

One year I woke up to the start of a REALLY bad sore throat cold on the day we were leaving. That was a miserable trip. I couldn't taste any of my food, and my throat hurt so bad I was shivering through out the park. I remember not going on as many rides. So this shouldn't be as bad since I've already got 2 1/2 days under my belt of the cold. Still would have been nice to be completely well!! Hope you have a good trip in 3 weeks (would be nice if all healed up by then!).

I don't think we have been sick when we have arrived. We always save getting sick until the end of the trip! Don't know if it is from change of climate or what? Anybody else have the same experience? :scratchin

Anyway, hopefully you will be so glad to be at Disneyland you might forget all about feeling bad! Maybe they can sprinkle some magical pixie dust your way!
Hope you feel better real soon and have a great trip! :wave2:

My son has gotten sick towards the end of trips. I'm sure the climate, and being up close in line with others can play a big role there!

Thanks for the well wishes. I can sure use some pixie dust! Even if I am sick, I'm at DL, that's all that really counts! ;)
