Oh no! Hoop Dee Doo refurb....now what?

DD9's WDW favorite is HDD. This is her must-do. I'd like to replace it with something just as fun in Sept. We've done the other 2 dinner shows and don't love them. Problem with Spirit of Aloha is the crazy waiting area before the show. Already doing many character meals. Am I forgetting a fun dining experience to take HDDs place since its under refurb?

Hoop Dee Doo, Backyard BBQ and Aloha are the only dinner shows at Disney World. Beirgarten at Epcot has live entertainment while you dine. Marrakesh has Moroccan dancers and I think invites kids to join. Ohana has coconut races for kids.

Not a show but my kids love Coral Reef. They stare at the huge aquarium all through dinner.

I've only heard rumours about it closing for refub. but nothing official - at least not that I've heard. Anyone else?

I've checked several different sites today and I can't find any kind of official announcement of a refurb. Hope this isn't just another silly rumour that was started....

We tried to book for our August trip and the last date available was Aug. 4. Nothing after that.

I read mention of a refurb on two posts on this board. Was hoping it was a rumor, so I called Disney Dining. The CM told me without hesitation that it was going to be refurbed starting in the summer. They show this thru Dec, but he said they could definetly reopen sooner if they finish sooner. I'm not holding my breath for our trip in Sept, but hopefully someone will post as soon as it reopens. I think it closes in Aug.

Of course, one would wonder if the reason they keep holding back the schedule is because they aren't sure when they're going to start the refurb....


But personally...please not in August!!!!! This is always our favorite night of our whole trip!!!!!

I understand that CMs sometimes give out inaccurate info, but this is ridiculous. The guy I spoke with earlier was certain it was going down. I hope he was wrong. I'm going to call back...maybe get a supervisor...
Update: Disney dining CM had to really dig to find it, but it definetly was listed as going under refurb in Aug. Wish it wasn't so.. Good news is the CM brought up a cool replacement- Cirque du soleil. Never seen it, and not sure how much it costs, but going to check it out!

I'm devastated by this news! My hubby and I LOVED the show on our Anniversary trip and were definitely planning to go again! I'm sure he is going to be disappointing as its one thing he was actually looking forward to seeing again!

Just remember that Cirque isn't a dinner show...I haven't seen it myself, but I'm not sure it would replace our beloved HDDR!

Off to start looking at other options. The nice thing is, at Disney World, we do have plenty of great options to choose from.

I called three times and got the same response each time...refurb.

I am still secretly hoping that they got it wrong it and that the dates just aren't loaded. If it does I will book it.

My back-up plan is Raglan Road. Figured that might be decent replacement.

Last week I spoke to CM about HDD, confirmed not "loaded" in system after Aug 4 yet. Spoke to them again today & CM confirmed it is indeed being refurbished as of 8/5 up to possibly end of year so unable to book HDD after 8/5 and most likely that will unfortunately go well into your Sept. dates.

While not a dinner show, may I suggest Cinderella's Royal Table for your DD? Don't know if she likes princesses and while a far cry from the whimsy HDD, it's a pretty special place to enjoy a meal It's a splurge, but the price. like HDD, does include tax & tip.

I'm not much for rides, this was the ONE thing I really wanted to do during our Sept trip to Disney, even more than MNSSHP. So bummed right now that I dont even want to go anymore.
