Since I came in, I have to leave a tip or I am in bigggg trouble. So here it is.
Go ahead and eat what you are craving. OK, sounds wrong at first glance but hear me out. I learned this in Weight Watchers. If you are really craving something you have a couple of choices. Let's say for example you are really craving a hot fudge sundae.
1) You can try to ignore it and have something in it's place like rice cakes. Right, that won't take care of your craving so now you have eaten something else and still have the craving. So maybe you eat a fat free pudding, and that is good, but still doesn't satisfy the craving. How about some pretzels, still doesnt work. When all is said and done, you have eaten all the substitute foods and still eat the "forbidden" food. Or, even if you don't eat the forbidden food you have probably had just as much fat and calories in the substitute foods and you still have the craving. This is the voice of experience, I have done it many times.
Or, you can just go ahead and have a little bit of hot fudge sundae and the craving is gone. Notice I said a little bit. Now you can't give in to all your cravings. You can tell the difference between a real craving and a "I just want it" thought. If you did it with all your cravings then I guess you would just get bigger and bigger until you blew up! OK, not that bad, but you get the picture.
Can I go home now?
