A little ways back I posted about cable tv & a digital transport converter (DTA).

Trying to dot my Ts and cross my Is, I started to think about antennas. Yes I admit I should try and get a life, but (there's that but again) we will soon be staying at a couple of State Parks in Florida.

No cable, you have to run on your antenna in your RV. About 6 months ago we bought a small flatscreen.

The question, do I need some sort of converter for antenna signal tv. I know something changed and a box was required if you had rabbit ears.

I don't think so. The boxes are for older non-digital tv's. I also bought a small (really small) flat screen TV last fall. I added a separate antenna from Radio Shack and it works just fine. I'm surprised at the local channels I get that aren't on cable. For example, our local NBC affiliate channel 5 has a dedicated weather channel that is something like 5.1. I hadn't seen channels with decimal points before trying the antenna. :confused3

If your flatscreen has a digital tuner (which it most likely does) then you just need to connect it via coax and run a channel scan on the "air" channels.

A lot of those channels are on basic cable, but your tv may not be able to see them. Not all digital tv's are made equal. You need a built in "clear QAM" tuner to see the sub channels.

We just upgraded both of our TV's to flatscreens right before Christmas. We use our regular antennae and get great reception and a lot more channels with no box. I think you will be very happy once you see the results. We just used ours on a partial hook-up in Titusville and got all the Orlando channels.
