Oh my! She looks awful!

I don't think she has an eating disorder. All of the pictures of her show her body looking pretty much the same. She also doesn't have the lollipop head look going for her.

I think she's naturally thin, is wearing a bad dress for her figure, and probably lost a few pounds from stress (filming all those movies back to back plus doing the press junket has to be incredibly stressful).
I agree.

These threads always bother me. What if she was overweight and people said OMG she looks awful, look how much weight she has gained? I believe that the posts on this thread would be a lot different.

What is she wearing??

I think in hollywood any actress/actor/model whatever who is super thin is automatically said to have an eating disorder doesn't always mean they do. Hasn't she always been that way???

If you compare a picture of her to pictures of those actresses that have admitted to having eating disorders you will see a huge difference.

They always bother me, too. Why is it okay to say that someone who is thin looks "awful" but it's impolite to say that an overweight person looks awful?

As a former very thin person (now I'm just thin, not VERY thin :teeth: ) and the mother of a naturally thin but very healthy and athletic dd, it bothers me that people assume that others have an eating disorder.

It reminds me of all the nasty comments my thin sister got when she had Hodgkin's disease at 17. She lost weight from the treatments and you wouldn't believe the number of people who thought it was okay to talk to her about her "disease." Unfortunately, they thought the disease was anorexia when in fact she had cancer.

To me she looks awful because she looks sick and her ribs are poking through.
I'm not making fun of her or anything I just feel bad for her.
I'd rather see someone overweight who looked good and healthy than someone thin and sickly.

Just what I was thinking!

I hope you don't think I'm trying to flame you because I'm not--I'm just trying to show the other point of view. There is nothing unhealthy or sickly looking about someone's ribs showing. You can count my ribs right now and you've been able to all my life. I've always done my fair share of eating and I'm very healthy. I was blessed with a fast metabolism. My OB/GYN gave me a hug one day when I came in and told me he was always happy to see me because that meant he'd have at least one person that he wouldn't have to tell to lose weight that day. My GP is quite satisfied with the health of both dd and I.

I find overweight people unappealing because I come from a family of skinny folk. I don't go around saying they look awful, though, that would be rude and untrue.

I agree with NMAmy. I think she looks thin, but certainly not sick or disgusting or unhealthy or any of the things said here. Bad dress, though, boy I do agree with that! (for her body type)

Low weight is highly correlated with longevity and health. :thumbsup2

Well said. Somehow it's OK when plus size folks bring out the names for the "skinny" people.

As somebody who has been following her career from the beginning, she has always looked like that. She actually bulked up for a couple roles (one of them being Domino) and has trimmed back down, which is what you see now.

Some people just can't gain weight. I'm like that, always was. I used to be very thin, too, until I had my dd6, now I'm just thin. I was always healthy, too, no matter how thin I was. I ate non-stop and ate anything I wanted to. I constantly heard the remarks about needing to "put some meat on my bones", needing to eat, are you anorexic or bulemic, you're too skinny, you disgust me b/c you're so skinny. Real nice. Do you know how offended an overweight person would be if someone told them "you're too fat...stop eating".

Some people are naturally skinny, like my best friend growing up. She ate twice as much as me and never got over 100lbs.

BUT, Kiera Knightly was NOT skinny like that before. She has always looked thin, but normal.

And people do post piccies about ppl that gain weight.

I can't say if she has an eating disorder, DH and I have always thought that she is a very beautiful woman. I will say that the dress is very unflattering. IMO, I don't like that very low cut style of a dress, because of the way it makes a slender/thin womans chest look. I think that the dress was a bad choice on whomevers part, because she usually looks stunning.

I will say that when I was in highschool, friends, family and even drs. began to think that I had an eating disorder. Which I denied. I have always loved food, but it turned out that I had several medical conditions which were causeing problems. It hurt a lot to have people going around talking behind my back and thinking things that weren't true.

Now, that I am older, I am on the low side of the weight spectrum for my height. It takes a lot for me to stay above 100 lbs. Now, to some people you are probably saying that this is a problem you would like to have! But, in all honesty it is just as hard for me to maintain this weight as it is for friends of mine to lose weight!

Sorry that I rambled on...... ;)

That's what I was thinking.

She's always been thin... I think that is just the way she is. She doesn't look any skinnier to me than usual. Nor does she look sickly to me.

But, I agree that dress isn't flattering at all!!! She really should've chosen something to help accentuate the way she is built... that dress isn't it.

If an actress gained enough weight to look unhealthy, there would be nothing wrong with commenting on it. Same goes for one who loses a lot of weight.

Being significantly underweight is just as unhealthy as being significantly overweight. And there are overweight people who cannot lose weight, just as there are underweight people who cannot gain weight.

I guess what they say is true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

She does look thin. She's also beautiful. Some people are just naturally thin, and I'm one of them. I'm 5', 97-98 lbs. And yes, my ribs show, more or less depending on my posture. Some close friends constantly tease that I'm their "anorexic" friend. One of them has a mom who always comments on my weight and every time I visit she asks me if my health is ok and tries to make me something to eat. Well, I eat plenty, I'm just blessed (some people would call it that) with a fast metabolism. I've been picked on about being thin and petite my entire life, and it's given me a complex. I've always been insecure about my body and I'm very self-conscious about it, I'm sure the comments I've had my entire life have contributed to that. I had some cosmetic surgery "enhancements", and what does a friend of mine tell me? "Now you don't have the the body of a 13 year old anymore"! Great. Now there are exceptions (Nicole Ritchie is a good example of being WAY too thin, especially since we've seen her at a healthier weight) but I think it's rude to comment on a thin person's weight just as much as it is to make comments to someone who is overweight. As for Keira, she's always looked really thin to me. And who knows, maybe she's like me. If I'm really stressed out I lose weight fast, and even losing 2-3 lbs can cause me to look too thin. I think in Keiras case, the dress is what's unflattering.

I think she is a beautiful women. IMHO, it is a bad dress...she has always been tiny. A dress like that should be reserved for a Salma Hayek kind of figure.
