Oh my!!! I received a PIN and have ?'s

I received a snail mail card with the PIN code you are talking about, I believe. I booked it online for the discount on the ROOM (40% off Deluxe). I then had the option to add tickets and a dining plan. The tickets and dining plan were full-price, and the discount did not apply to them. I booked everything as a package. Before I added tix and dining, the website read "Room Only Pinned Offer." As soon as I selected the tix, it said "Magic Your Way Pinned Offer", and when I added the Disney Dining Plan, it said "Magic Your Way Plus Dining Pinned Offer." So unless a code SPECIFIES that it must be used for a Room Only Reservation, you may apply it to the ROOM portion of a package. Packages and Room Only are handled differently as far as deposit and cancellation, hence the necessary distinction.

If you cannot add the tix and dining to make a package online for some reason, you can always call to talk to a CM to learn the terms of your PIN code discount. Happy planning!!

I haven't confirmed my ressie, but I could make it a package as well. You just don't get the discount on what you add, only the room receives a discount. It may depend on the pin. Just try it and see.

Also, I agree you can use the pin over and over again.

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard that if you were to get one annual pass, and applied an annual pass discount to your room, that could also save you money, especially since you would be staying at a deluxe. But the 40% off should be better than free dining if all of your days fall within the specified dates. Which leads to your second question. Yes, you can book outside of the specified dates. The dates that fall outside of what they offer would be booked at rack rate.

If you go online and check out the various resorts using the pin, it will give you a daily breakdown of the resort cost, and you will see 10/22 at full rack rate followed by 10/23 to 10/29 at the discounted rate.

Thanks..I found the room rate breakdown and I think the room discount is better as you mentioned than the dp. Also, now I am not sure we really even want to do the dining plan as dd just turned 10 and eats like a bird would be considered an adult and cost $48 a day.

We have WL booked in Sept. for 2 adults and 2 kids under 10 and when I ran the numbers, the pin code discount worked out to be cheaper than free dining. From what I've read, value resort it's better to get free dining, deluxe it's better to use 40% pin code, moderate is pretty much a wash.

If you want to arrive 10/22, you will have to do two separate reservations for the room. 10/22 will be the full price rate and the rest will be the discounted rate. If you arrived on 10/23 and stayed past 10/29, you could have one reservation and still get the pin code rate for the days following (up to 15 days past 10/29).

Yah, Thanks...very good to know. I am thinking of extending rather than booking early now if I can get that discounted rate after 10/29.

Oh wow, there is some reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad advice in this thread. Yes, you can use it to book a package. The room part of the package will be discounted. You can add both dining and tickets. Call in. DINING CANNOT BE ADDED AT CHECK IN!

I believe I received the same PIN through snail mail in early January. I booked our trip at CR with DDP and hoppers. I didn't attempt to do it online, I think being able to is a relatively new thing. I took the 40% off the room only rates I was seeing online and had a number in my head before I called and spoke to a CM. My figures were only $1 off of what I was quoted. I made the reservation with the 7 day hold at AKL but dicussed it further with my husband and decided CR was better for this trip for us. Called back and adjusted the resort and booked it all over the phone. I think the 40% off the room saves us more than free dining would based on my calculations.

I received the same PIN promo and am seriously considering it for our first trip to WDW. We are a family of 4 (2adults, 2kids under 10) thinking of staying at a deluxe resort for a 7 day trip. Would the 40% room discount PIN be better than a Free Dining plan for our situation, generally speaking?

Also, b/c the offer specifies certain dates (e.g. 10/23 - 10/29)...could we still get the 40% off room discount offer if we wanted to arrive a day earlier on 10/22??

It could be. The best way to know for sure is to run the numbers if and when a free dining promotion comes out. You would have one extra family member than I do, but it is a child. For me, seven nights with 40% off would have been a savings of almost $1500 (in a gv room at GF). The DELUXE plan is $1260 for the three of us (two adults and a four year old). Even if you added one more child, it would still save money. Free dining has never offered deluxe either, so it is better and cheaper. Go ahead and book the pin offer now anyway. If free dining is less and a switch is possible, you can do that later.

You would only get 40% off for six of the seven nights. I am only getting three of my seven nights, since four of my dates fall outside the pin offer. Saving 40% for six nights could still be more than the basic free dining plan for your family. Price it against any future specials that apply to your dates.

I plugged in my pin code at least a hundred times in a few weeks until I finally booked. And I was able to add the tickets and dining plan no problem.
