Oh my gosh are character meals expensive!!!

This may get me flamed, but here goes:

If I recall correctly, you can buy the dining plan when staying on the campgrounds (putting on my flamesuit...). A site is $42 and you can add up to to 10 people to the plan which someone has quoted the price per adult and child ($38 and $12, maybe?).

I realize you are staying offsite, but it might be worth looking into to pitch a small tent (or just park your car!) in order to buy the dining plan, and oh by the way, parking would be free at the parks for you since you're staying "on property", so your net daily cost is now $28/day.

Do this for a portion of your stay (say 2-3 days) and schedule all your character meals on those days. In fact, if you have some ppl who won't be interested, don't put them on the reservation list for the campsite and save even more money by not buying the dining plan for everyone in your group.

Ok, I know I'm a huge bulls-eye for the campground people, but there it is.

And people wonder why real campers can't get a site when the campgrounds are half empty....

Just remember, that the Norway dining serves norwegian food for lunch and dinner. A lot of people say they like it, but i'd be a little weary of the menu offerings. Although there's probably mac and cheese for back up. Breakfast is american.

I'd check out allears.net they have a great listing of the menus and up to date pricing.

(aw jodi?)

We couldn't justify the money on our boys, so dh took our daughter to a princess meal while I had mom time with her brothers. I didn't get to be there :( but I am so happy because they both came out all smiles and it's special dad/daughter time they'll both remember. They also did the breakfast in Norway, which was the cheapest of the princess dining options.

Yes that is why we opted for the Dulx Dis Dining Plan on our trip!!!! Best Money we ever spent!!! Didnt have to worry about what we were paying for meals and could order WHATEVER we wanted (I am aprice looker - and I hate that LOL) this way too your older kids could do the QS meals as they wanted... works GREAT!!!

I am to the point I don't know what I want. lol

I am pretty sure dd will be the most happy with the Akershus, so we will probably go there for lunch the day we're at Epcot (just dd & I). Can't do dinner there because the older kids have all requested Teppan Edo (??) since they love hibachi style food.

I think I'm going to take ds (just he and I) to Chef Mickey's on a off day when we aren't going to be in the parks, since it's in a resort. That way we keep costs down, and the older kids will be more happy with the waterslide at the resort then sitting down with Mickey & friends.

I may be wrong but I think Askerhaus is only "Princess" Character Meal at Breakfast????

We did the Askerhause Breakfast and actually enjoyed it more then the Castle lunch (the adults anyways)

Not to confuse you even more but if your DS is little you might want another adult with you at the buffet breakfast. I traveled alone with my DS when he was 3 and had a hard time a the buffet's. I didn't want to leave him at the table alone but he didn't want to leave the table in case he would miss a character. The characters are good about coming back to see all the kids but he was too little to understand. In the end I paid a lot of money to really not eat! After that I learned I prefer the actual table service meals verses the buffet.

Akershus only has characters at breakfast?

Ds is 5...maybe I will bring one of my older ds' or dh with.
