Just checked my flights today, and Airtran changed flight home by over 3 hours earlier! Yikes!! Not flying until Oct. Have flown them last 3 years and they have never moved this flight home by more than a half hour.

No way I'm going to get 4 teenages to the airport by 6:30am. Anyone have experience with them changing this far out? Have you had them move your times this much? Did they charge you to change flights?

Guess that's what I get for being such a planner.. maybe should have waited to book, but never had this happen before!

:crazy2:

Well feel a little better. They switched us to an afternoon flight no charge. But, it's not a non-stop. We will have a 1 hr layover in baltimore. Fingers crossed that it's enough time if we have any delay. Never been to BWI, hope it's not a huge airport like Atlanta or Charlotte..anyone have any experience with layover there?

Check their schedules and call them to see if you can move to another flight.

I would call them asap.... they should move you to another flight that day without charge...

Good luck:thumbsup2

At least you still have a flight! Our return flight in August was cancelled! I called just a few minutes ago and they booked me on an afternoon flight with no extra charges. We didn't receive any notification that the flight was cancelled. The rep on the phone said that the cancellation was just made 2 days ago which is why I hadn't gotten an email. We'll see. The changes are all showing on my online itinerary now, though, so I'm glad the changes were made successfully. It was to our advantage because the flight we're on now is much later than the previous one, and was much more expensive when I originally booked.

Call and explain that the reason you booked the flight you did was because it left later. By changing it they are inconveniencing you, and they most likely will change you to a later flight at no charge.

AirTran changed our flights (both ways) SUBSTANTIALLY last year between the time I booked and actually flew. Called and they let me change - but I elected to only change the flight down as I prefer non-stop. AT only had one non-stop flight down and one back.

Anyway, even though they have a good price for a RT non-stop with very good times, I'm not rushing to book them again this year. From what I have read, they often fiddle with their schedules - more so than others that fly out of MSP, it seems. I'll wait to book a little closer to departure, and maybe pay a little more, but for us, it will be worth it.

Before we learned to book the first and last flights of the day, our schedules changed that significantly each and every time we flew with airtran. Email or call them, they'll change it no problem, with no fees. Once or twice, we were even able to switch to a closer airport AND get money back! :thumbsup2

They switched me last year from a nonstop to MCO to a flight with a 3.5 hour layover in Atlanta.

I cancelled it.

AirTran changed our October return flight from a 1:25pm departure to an 8am departure a few weeks ago. DH called and was able to change our flight to a more acceptable time without any charges. Customer service was fantastic. Since it's still so far out, DH was told that the flight could still change again. The rep noted our account and told him that, if that happened, we could change back to our original flight with no charge.

FWIW, I've heard that this happens quite a bit on AirTran.

Thanks for all the replies. Glad to hear they noted account to change back to original at no charge if they changed again. I'll call in the morning.
