Yesterday evening he came walking down the hall with his blanket and must have gotten his feet tangled. He came crashing down the stairs so hard I thought a truck had hit the house. He got up and walked off, but later he wouldn't bear weight on his leg so we took him to the ER. The verdict: a fractured rib, greenstick fracture at rt elbow and ....he fractured his left hip!
He's only 15 yrs old. They transferred me and him to the children's hospital and he had the hip pinned this morning. Thankfully, he's sleeping off the anesthesia but it may take awhile--when he had sinus surgery a few years ago it took him about 14 HOURS to wake up.
Of course, I've been up since yesterday. I did get about 45 min rest when DH came this a.m. Unfortunately, he's sick as a dog so I called a friend to come get him. He has severe vertigo and can't drive. I can't handle both of them.
And you know what, this will really rip your shorts. DH called his sister this morning to tell her what happened and that he could not go down there(400 miles) this week for a visit as planned. His idiot sister was actually more upset that he couldn't go Christmas sight-seeing with her than she was that Christian JUST HAD HIP SURGERY.
She really thought it would be okay for DH to ditch us for the week. I can't even print what *my* thoughts are, but DH is livid.
I"ll post updates later as I have them. I understand that PT is going to get him up this afternoon--he's going to have to be looking more alive than he is right now, that's for sure.

To you and Christian.
Does he tolerate pain medication ok? Poor guy.
Dh is goingto get the kids to clear out the dining room and we'll set it up as a bedroom for Christian. That way we won't have to be hauling him up and down the stairs for 4-6 weeks.
Gentle hugs and prayers for all of you.
