On a last minute whim, my brother in law & family are coming to DL with us for the day. They were planning on a SoCal trip, but not DL until now - but they will be doing one of those shuttle things where they are at dl from 10:30 to 8:30.
Well, of course I am looked to to do the planning! This is the kids first and probably only time to DL so I want to make it special. The hours and last minute notice (plus not really knowing what the kids - girl 9 and boy 16? are into) has made this hard.

So what should I make sure not to forget and how should I maximize this? We are having lunch at the BB around 1, tentatively.

Thanks for any input!!

BTW this will be a weekend day - whether Saturday or Sunday is TBD

Hi, Kaity, tell us more, please! Who's going just in your family? Do you have kids-- what ages? Are you guys doing just a one-day trip yourselves, too? Or will you be there multiple days? Is this a first time trip for you guys, too, or are you AP holders and there several times a year?

I'm thinking if you're AP veterans just there for the one day, you should maybe get there early regardless of what time your BIL's family get there, so you can be collecting FPs for yourselves. If you're there for several days with your family, maybe this could be a more relaxed day for you guys as you show your BIL's family around? Then you can do all the "must-sees" for yourselves on another day?

Just a couple of random thoughts; need more info. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the quick response!

We are AP holders and go many times a year - so it's fine for us to miss out on things we normally do (although I must admit I am selfishly really hoping they are Indy fans so I can see the new mini-show!)

Our kids are not really kids! They are dd 16 and ds 13. DD really really loves DL though - she wants to work in the business or imagineering aspect of it when shes older - and ds is pretty laid back so they don't mind doing kiddie rides or thrilling rides - either way its dl!

Well I am just guessing that you won' t go wrong with rides, rides, rides. If you are willing, gather as many fast passes as you can before they get there, and then gift them to make thier one short day as great as possible. Get "first visit" pins for them.

definitely first visit pins! Get in some Disney classics, like yummy churros :) And of course you cannot go wrong with jamming in the rides! Like another commenter said, I would definitely stock up on fast passes!

I would talk to your BIL and find out what kinds of things his kids like to do. That might help you focus on what they can't miss since they only have a few hours.

The other thing I like to know is if someone has visited WDW. If so, that changes my thoughts about where to focus their time since that alters DCA touring alot.

:cool1: Our must do's every trip are : Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mtn RR, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones, Mr Toad AND... the Fireworks!!! We have to have a Mickey Ice Cream bar, lunch at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port and clam chowder bowls in the French Quarter. Always get a few pressed pennies and a stuffed animal at the Emporium. My son has always loved the Adventureland Bazaar... we have many rubber snakes and the Pieces of Eight shop.. got to have gold doubloons!!! We love to try on hats at the Mad Hatter.. used to get Mickey ears when kid was smaller.

Next trip we will have to add the submarines.. haven't been since they reopened.
