Oh boy an unexpected trip to WDW!

Okay, my DD15 plays in her high school band. I just found out that they will be going to WDW the week before spring break. Sometime between 3/12 and 3/20. They will be performing around WDW. Way cool! Now my dilemma, they won't give her any specific dates yet, so I can't start my planning until they do. The director said that he should have all the details sometime in October! Which is just way to long for me to wait. What do you think my chances of getting a studio in one of the resorts during this time frame, if I wait until the end of Oct. to book it? I have the points if I borrow from my June 05 allotment to book now. Problem is if it changes and I have to book a shorter stay those points will be borrowed points and I couldn't bank them. Most likely they will be staying at one of the All Star resorts and they normally have spots for tag along, so I guess I could just pay and go that route, which is fine but I've been itching to try SSR. I think my plan is to just meet up with them down there and book my own accommodations. What to do, what to do. Sorry if I'm rambling on.

Congrats!! Sounds like a great time. When I was in HS our band played at Disney and it was FANTASTIC!!! We just decided to do a quicky WDW trip in October. The kids have a 4 day weekend and will miss one day of school. We were able to get a 2 bedroom at OKW, we hope to try all of the DVCs in time. Have fun planning your trip! Lacee

An extra trip- how cool!! My thought is that even if you have to wait until October to book you should be able to find a studio for that time frame as long as you don't care which resort. I can't think of a reason that week in March would be really busy unless it would be due to spring break.

Since you have to borrow points to book now I would be afraid that the band will change something between now and then and you would be stuck.

Palm Sunday starts on the 20th - so hopefully you will be fine..

if they change it March 20-27 - then you are in the Easter season and point costs are very high.

Congrats to your DD and her band. My DS's marching band went down to WDW in 2000 and had a BLAST. I'll keep my fingers crossed you can nab something somewhere!!!
