I'm pretty upset right now. Upset with myself and upset with DH. We took the Jeep, top down, up to the mountains yesterday. When we came home I asked DH if we shouldn't go ahead and put the top up. Nah, it doesn't look like rain. Okay. About 8pm I asked him again and got the same answer: doesn't look like rain. Well, guess what? I have 1-1/2 inches of rain in the floorboards of my Jeep now. :headache:

I realize that this is partly my fault.I don't know how to put the top on, but I'm not stupid. I could have gone out there with a flashlight, opened the owners manuel, and i bet I could have had that top on before midnight. I"m mad at myself for listening to DH and I'm mad at him for letting my Jeep get wet. We have shop-vac'd the water out. The seats and carpet are soaked and of course, it is cool and damp today so nothing is drying out. Errrrgg...

If anybody knows how to dry out a Jeep quickly, I'm all ears. :confused:

The one time I left my windows open, (I didnt have that much water like you tho) and got all my seats and some floor wet, I left the car on with the heater turned on to the max. It dried fairly fast but it sure is a gas waster but I wanted dry seats to sit on. Luckily I was at a friends house and was able to keep an eye out on my car from the window.

I had a Jeep for 9 years and someone stole the top right off of it. I just let it go and it dries eventually. But, my Jeep was a 1972 CJ-5 so it didn't matter.

You can try sprinkling rice on the floor and then vacuum them up after a while. Hair-dryers work, too.

Tip it over and let it drain :lmao::lmao::lmao:

A friend's Dh left the windows open on their car and the seats got all wet. They just let it air dry and that is NOT a good idea-their car SMELLED. My friend wouldn't even ride in it any more it smelled so bad. I would rent a carpet cleaner and suck out as much water using that as you can-both from the floor and the seats. You could probably have a carpet cleaner come out and do that for you-their units have a lot more suction power and will work better.

If you have small floor fans pull it in the garage and set them up to dry the floor. I agree call a carpet co as the truck mount suction is stronger and they usually have a mildewcide treatment to spray. This I do know as we own a Carpet cleaning co. Jo

Well, I've run across several hard core Jeepers that don't even own tops, because they claim a Jeep is designed to be left open to the elements, and so far it hasn't come back to bite them.
Of course I can not emphasis enough the words HARD CORE, because these are true off road Jeepers who commute to work in their Jeeps during the week, and beat them to death on the weekends off road.
My next door neighbor has 27,000 miles on his 2008 CJ, and has destroyed 3 engines , 1 transmission, and 6 axles off road.

we are going to the Jeep Rally in CT this weekend!:banana:

That's what my DH does in the summer and spring. But Alaskan winters brings tops to JEEPS even in hardcare JEEP owners!:laughing:

That's insane. :scared1::scared1:

It's not insane. It's a sport

Have fun! We are jealous!

Last winter my oldest left the car door open all night and I woke up to about 1.5 feet of snow in my car...I feel your pain!
