This press conference is just bizarre.

I can't believe how many grown, adult, professional men take shirtless/pantless photos of themselves and tweet them to strangers online.

This is the 2nd NY politician who has been caught up in this sort of scandal this year, honestly what are they thinking??

Not if your ego is roughly the size of Texas, which it appears is the case with Weiner.

I don't understand how anyone can do this without fear of getting caught. And when you're a State Representative, don't you worry that the odds of getting caught go up substantially?

These guys should have to resign just based on being stupid enough to think that they could get away with it. Get a clue: if the woman you are communicating with is skanky and sleazy enough to participate, she will sell you out for the publicity in a heartbeat.

There are tales that circulate among old-timers in the NC Highway Patrol about a certain politician from the eastern part of the state who bears a passing resemblance to Florence Henderson. Tawdry things from days gone by, so I hear.

I do have to give him some credit, though. Although I don't agree with his politics or his naughtiness, he was really out there among the people in our neighborhood, and seemed really concerned about the needs of his constituents. He went to every street fair, block party, store opening etc. But that was before he became a big shot in Washington. I guess his power went to his head!

I'm not surprised or shocked. Check out these statistics:

50% of married women cheat
60% of married men cheat
80% of all marriages involve one partner who is or has been unfaithful
57% of people have used the internet to flirt
38% of people have engaged in explicit online sexual conversation

There are a whole lot of people out there who can't cast the first stone, so to speak.

The sad thing is this guy just recently got married. This is going to taint his career, but I doubt it will ruin it. I do think it was good he finally came out and was just honest. All that "I got hacked" stuff -- no one was buying it.

ETA: This scandal did produce some of the best headlines I've ever seen on TV. My personal favorite, "Weiner Roast."
