I don't know why, but I was worried about my passport expiry date earlier today. I've just remembered to have a look at it, and it is fine it doesn't run out until 2010.

Mr EK's, however, runs out in July 2008.

Not a problem when your trip to DLP is in November, but it is when you fly to Turkey in 3 weeks!

I don't trust the check and send thing. there's a bank holiday between now and then and they'll use it as an excuse.

I forsee a day of standing in line at the passport office for Mr EK. Clever boy.

:confused3

I know that little man is confused, but I am despairing, and that seems an appropriate icon.

Also I am  Fur flying.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Oich...isn't there like a one week express service?!

Well done for spotting Mr EK's passport now rather than in 2 weeks time

Atleast you noticed now and not in 3 weeks ;)

Yes, there is, but I don't trust it. I shall only be happy when he goes to london and comes back with it in his sticky mitt.

Unbelievably, a friend we are holidaying with had a whole passport trauma about 3 weeks ago, and it still didn't remind him to check his.

But yes, glad I found it now and not at 2am on the 1st Sept when we leave for Turkey!

Got this from the website!

Fast Track one-week service

This service will not be available if you are applying for your first adult passport from 1 June 2007. This guarantees that your passport will be delivered by Secure Delivery within one week (not including bank and public holidays) of you bringing us your form and documents. If your signature is needed and you are not in at the time of delivery, the one week guarantee no longer applies

And exhale!

At least you know now!! As torsie says you can do that express thing, family have (similar situation) and the new passport has always been received in time ok:goodvibes

Imagine if you'd been standing in the queue at Gatwick (or wherever) when you realised!! Doesn't bear thinking about.

I get so mad when you see that happen on airport.........

My bet friends dim cousin didnt think to check hers when she was trying to EMIGRATE! COuldn't move into her new ouse or start her new job for 3 weeks.....how didnt anyone ask fr her passport in that process?

He's on the phone now getting an appointment....to get it on the same day.

Crisis averted - I must have known, somehow, subconsciously, that they needed checking. SOOOOOO glad this didn't happen at 4am in the check in q at Gatwick!

Still. Grumble grumble.

I've been here. Discovered the night (while packing at aound midnight) before DH was going to visit his brother in Germany that his passport had expired.

Luckily he had an evening flight so could get his passport on the 1 day appointment service on the way to the airport.

And this was after I had been reminding him for a couple of weeks to get out the documents (passport, insurance, drivers licence etc just to check everything was ok).

Some people eh?

I did the same, three days before I was supposed to be going to DLRP!!

The Passport Office were actually quite good and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Scared the **** out of me thinking that I wasn't going to get to DLRP

We've done the other thing before - got the the airport, then somebody in our group has realised they've managed to leave their passport at home.

Fortunately, they lived fairly local to the airport (less than an hour), so they phoned home and got their DH to put the passport in a taxi and we all got away on time.

i would check if the express service offer a guarenteed time frame. .im from ireland and they give ten working day guarentee and i got mine back in seven. thank god you found it now though!!!

If he goes to the passport office, make sure he all the relevant paper work signed & ready. My friends BF losts his just before going to Egypt last year. Lucky she is a teacher & could sign the photos & form, however she was not allowed to go in with him. He discovered she hadn't signed one form so had to go all the way outside to get her to sign & a proof of her id.

It was a good thing she actually went to London with him otheriwse he would have been stuffed.

Thankfully you have found out before your trip:thumbsup2

Oh dear... At least you noticed on time... Hope he'll sort it out in one day...

I also don't trust this Express service esp in the high summer season... I remember getting my passport in 10 days time and the girls got theirs in 2-3 weeks so it's really not guaranteed...

Talking about being organised... We applied for Swiss citizenship for the girls (DH is Swiss). We all had to go to the Swiss Embassy in London to sign papers etc etc. We applied for their passports on Monday morning and got the passports directly from Bern on Weds morning!!! But that's Switzerland for you;)

I had a mad call from my friend last week - they are planning on going to France in just over 2 weeks but had forgotten that her DD needed a passport!!

I was more shocked that they were going to France but not going to DLP!!!
