Oga's question

I'll be there with my two daughters (16 and 12). Thinking of trying to get a res for Oga's mostly to check it out. Couple of questions:

how are they handling things with respect to distancing right now?
with just 3 of us, my guess is we get a high top table more likely than not?
do they serve just water? one of my 2 kids will not go for anything on the menu I think. i'll have to check it out for whatever is the best rum or tequila based drink they have, and i'm sure the other kid will find something she'll try.

1. They aren't really distancing at all at this point. You could be seated with another party.
2. I would plan that a high top is likely and be pleasantly surprised if you get a table.
3. Yes. My daughter only drank water when we were there.

No distancing at all. They will fill tables as they did pre-pandemic. We were just there and in the alcove. There were 5 people at one table and 7 people (our party of 5 and another party of 2) at our table. I have been to Oga's more than 10 times and I have gotten a seat at a table once and a seat at the bar once. The rest of the time has been standing tables or standing area at the bar.

Now, if you want recommendations for rum drinks, I personally love the Yub Nub and the Bespin Fizz.

I’ll have to try one of those!

for NA drinks, anything apple juice based? It’s about the only thing other than water my daughter will drink

Which area did you like the best and why?

As others have said, it's pretty packed in there. We were a party of 3 a few months ago and we stood at the bar. Got lucky in December and actually got a chair, so, YMMV in terms of where they place you. It doesn't look like they have apple juice there. Any chance she likes orange juice, lemonade or ginger ale? If not, I'm sure ordering water is fine. Maybe she would like one of the snacks?

I have reservations for our family of 4 adults and 3 kids aged 5-9. What do you think the odds are that we would get a table for ourselves? I don't think the high tops would work for the kids since they are shorter.

- Zero social distancing.
- Tables were shared by strangers.
- Stranger side by side at bar etc.
- The couple "food items" are not worth buying.
- They clearly don't want you to stay long ^.
- Some drinks are good, beers were meh.
- You do not get to pick where you go - they take you to your spot.
- We were told to stay at our spot and not move until we have paid and ready to leave.
- We could then take a few minutes to look around and take pictures.

I would say odds aren't great as it's mostly standing room only in there, but you might get lucky. In December, we were a party of 6 and we were given half a booth that was shared with a completely, separate party of 3. They slid some extra chairs on our side of the booth so we could squish in and fit. DS was 12 when I first took him and they put us at the bar - the M.O. seems to be just packing as many people as capacity allows without a lot of forethought for guest comfort.

We were a group of seven, including a 4-year old and a 10 month-old. We asked for a booth because the mother wanted to nurse the baby while we were in there; we said we were willing to wait. They gave us a high top…and a stool. I don’t mean a bar stool. A stool meant for a table. Her eyes made it to the high top level. Then we took turns holding the kids so they weren’t lost on the floor. They also added a single woman to our party of 7 (in September). She was friendly, so it wasn’t too weird. Yesterday, there were three parties of two at our high top. I’ve been to Oga’s about 20 times, have never received a table, have stood at the bar once, got stools at the bar once, and have never been seated on the right side of the bar as you walk in the door.

We were squeezed in at the bar when there wasn't exactly room for us. (after hovering around just behind the bar as instructed waiting for people to leave). I'm a US 8 / Medium sized person, I don't take up that much room. But I had to start out sideways to the bar and wait for the party next to us to leave so we would eventually fit where the CM decided we should fit. Have been back to GE twice since then and didn't even bother trying to get reservations. One and done for that reason, I can listen to the DJ R3X playlist on Spotify.

I have to ask, what keeps bringing you back so often?

Marthasor - Not sure "guest comfort" comes into play ... Oga's is a REALLY TOUGH reservation to get and it would be even tougher if they started spacing people "for guest comfort". Also not sure why, if it is so uncomfortable, you continue to frequent the establishment ... and how do you get your reservations?

SkyGuy - Confused as to why a mother would want to nurse a baby ... in a bar that is crowded and loud. I realize that it is Disney but there are so many other more comfortable (for mother and baby) places.to nurse. No judgement ... just wondering.

LOL! I am also a medium sized person - the first time we went, we were given a bar spot and the women placed beside me had a huge backpack on and she kept hitting me every time she moved. It was kind of comical and I really couldn't fault her - she was just taking everything in . . . and bumping me the whole time.

I'm not sure why you interpreted my post as a complaint? I've been to many "really tough" venues at WDW - Space 220 multiple times, etc. and no other venue in all of WDW is as packed-in as Oga's. I'm not faulting them for packing people in, nor am I complaining. That's how they do business at Oga's. Just giving others here a heads-up on what to expect as the question of spacing and seating in Oga's has come up a few times on these threads. People should be prepared to be packed in and shouldn't expect that the staff will be able to make any requested adjustments to their placement in the venue.

I've only been to Oga's twice - once when it first opened to see what the hype was all about and a second time with a group of friends who had never been there and wanted to try it. We made ADRs just like anyone else and took whatever time we could get. We typically try for hard-to-get reservations later in our trips and sign up for reservation alerts if we don't initially get a reservation - you know, all the typical ADR strategies that are constantly noted in these threads. I do not "frequent" Oga's - I've been to WDW 6 times since it opened and have gone twice. Unless I am going with someone who really wants to go, I have zero interest in going back there ever again and really wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless the are a die-hard Star Wars fan.

Because of the size of your group you may. They seemed to be holding the tables for larger groups. We had 4 and we got standing tables both times with kids in that age group. If you can find a stool they can use that.

I like the bar best (sitting is my first preference but standing there is fine too). The bartenders are a TON of fun and entertaining to watch as they make drinks. But we love Ogas for the atmosphere and the drinks so we take whatever they give us and have fun with it.
