Oga's cantina cancellation/modify question

I have an Oga's cantina booked for my trip in late May. I am definitely hoping to make it as I was only able to get it for the first day.

I was curious in general about cancelling a reservation last minute in a way to avoid $10 cancellation fee. I believe you just need to modify a reservation ahead to another day and then cancel that day to avoid the fee.

However, in the case of Oga's, I can't imagine I will find another spot to change it to at any point in the future. I am guessing that means if you cancel last minute for Oga's, you will have to pay the 10 dollar fee, does that sound correct?

I think generally, that is correct. If you have some kind of extenuating circumstance, a CM may be able to cancel it for you and waive the fee. In our case, I tried to cancel our Oga's reservation the night before but couldn't because it was after midnight. I just hadn't realized how late it was because we came back from the parks late. I chatted with a CM the next day (so it was a "same day cancellation") and they cancelled it for me without the charge.

In the before times, you were able to call the reservation line, and plead your case, and they may have taken the charge off (I did that once).

I would do your best to cancel the day before, or if not, you would have to eat (no pun intended) the fee, or plead your case with a CM.

Just go up to a CM outside of Oga’s, explain your situation, and ask them to cancel or modify the reservation. We did this a few weeks ago. My brother had never been to Oga’s before but his arrival was delayed. I spoke with a CM and they allowed us to come back later that afternoon.

Overall, yes, you are correct that you can also sidestep the cancellation fee by rescheduling the reservation (and then cancelling the rebook). But, as you point out, that can be challenging at high demand spots where you can't find a future reservation to switch to.

Maybe it was an error but we no-showed 2 reservations (long story- normally I wouldn't do that but both were complicated situations) on our last trip and were never charged.
